More Than a Triton: Ryan Kim-Cogan

For Ryan Kim-Cogan, a lifelong fascination with the ocean has grown into a passion for understanding the science behind its movement. As an Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences major and fencing scholar-athlete, he is studying wave dynamics through research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

From analyzing thousands of images of Botany Bay in the U.S. Virgin Islands to exploring how waves interact with coastlines, Kim-Cogan is turning his curiosity into scientific discovery.

As he looks toward a future in oceanography, Kim-Cogan is building a path that combines his passion for science with his dedication as a scholar-athlete.
