In January 1986 Gareth Wood became the first Canadian to reach the South Pole by foot. 7 years later, almost to the day, A16er (another Canadian) Sunniva Sorby skied to the Pole as part of the first all-women 4 person team to complete the journey. We'd sure like to think that their A16 Bomber Hats helped contribute to their success.

I feel fortunate to own this Gregory Cassin pack made by Wayne Gregory himself in 1977. It was built prior to him having any labels to brand it. Fortunately Wayne recently gave me a label from the first batch of labels along with a Certificate of Authenticity for the pack. Here is Wayne at 77+- holding my pack. He's still passionate about design & building things. If you live in So Cal and want to meet Wayne, he'll be attending A16's Great Outdoor Gear & Clothing Exchange at Helix Brewing Co in La Mesa, CA on May 10. 9-Noon. BTW, Wayne and his wife Suszy were among A16's first paid employees in the late 60. Before that, factory workers were volunteers including Boy Scouts. I think that might have been pre child labor laws in the states. The good ole' days!

Come to the A16 GEAR EXCHANGE for the super great deals on outdoor gear and stay for the people. The married couple in the center first met at the A16 SWAPMEET in the late late 80s, then came to every Swapmeet thereafter to celebrate. It's not nearly as interesting, but you'll meet the two bookends. L. Jeff Sheets from Trailhead Sales & R. John D. Mead, Trail Boss at A16.
