Why did I create a self-check-in system at Lafayette Playhouse? 💙
When I left my vet tech job and had my first baby, I chose to become a stay-at-home mom. I continued grooming at Whit’s Spa and Resort for Dogs until baby #2 came along, then switched to boarding dogs in our kennels at home. It never really felt like leaving home for work because I was right there with my babies.
Then I opened the Playhouse! My hope was that business would grow enough to hire a full-time employee. That hasn’t happened yet. I had part-time help from November through September, but for almost two months, I’ve been running it on my own—something I hadn’t planned on.
With business being slow, hiring someone else just isn’t in the budget. That meant closing Mondays and Thursdays and offering limited hours during the week, which I know didn’t work for everyone.
So, I created self-check-in! 🎉
Now, you can reserve playtime seven days a week, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Just make a reservation, wait for approval and your access instructions, and come play! 🛝
This lets me run errands, spend time with my girls, attend their school events, and let them take their naps at home—all while keeping the Playhouse available for your family.
And yes, the cleaning and sanitizing still happen just like always! I’m simply no longer sitting in the office waiting for someone to come through the door.
This little business means a lot to me, and so does being present for my kids. Self-check-in helps me do both. 💙
