Redefining Strength

Redefining Strength Redefine What Strong Means To You! Too often we get focused on a goal weight. On what our friends, or that other person at the gym, is doing.
(476)

But we can’t get focused on comparing ourselves to others. We can’t let a number on a scale define us. We can’t keep beating ourselves up when we feel like we aren’t progress as fast as that person did on Facebook or Instagram. We need to realize each of our journeys to feeling strong, confident, healthy and happy will be unique! That is why Redefining Strength was created. I’m Cori and I wanted to create training programs that focused on individual’s needs and not only helped them get the strong, lean bodies they want, but also learn to enjoy the journey. Because we are all constantly a work in progress. And each day is a chance to grow stronger, fitter and happier! Whether you chose to train with me at our gym in Orange County or follow in the foot steps of hundreds of thousands of people around the world training with RS online, I’ll help you reach your fitness goals and make lifestyle changes that STICK for REAL RESULTS!

Want strong, defined shoulders AND better shoulder mobility? This one move does it all.

Meet the seated snow angel.

The full overhead range hits your middle delt (hello, that rounded shoulder cap) AND doubles as scapular mobility work.

The external rotation as you raise sneaks in some rear delt too…so you're hitting more of the shoulder than a standard lateral raise.

And doing it seated adds to it as well. Standing lets you cheat…swinging, using momentum, borrowing mobility from your low back to lift more. Seated forces your shoulders to actually do the work and your core to brace hard.

Fair warning…go LIGHT. This is humbling.

The point is control and range of motion, not heavy loads.

Sit tall, feet planted, palms facing away…then slowly fly your arms out and up until your hands meet overhead. Straight arms, soft elbows. Lower slow. And repeat.

Want it more upper-back focused? Do it with a band where you have to pull back against the tension. Deceptively brutal. 😅ENJOY!

Muscle might be the most underrated thing you can build for your body.

We chase fat loss. We obsess over the scale.

But muscle? Muscle is the quiet powerhouse doing the real work.

It burns more calories at rest…so it's working for you even while you sleep.

It cushions and protects your joints.

It keeps your bones strong…which matters more and more as we age.

It steadies your blood sugar and energy.

And it changes how you FEEL in your body…capable, strong, at home in your own skin.

So don’t wait to start building it.

Especially because, after 40, we naturally start LOSING muscle every year unless we actively work to build and keep it.

So this isn't a "someday" project. It's one of the most important things you can be doing right now.

You don't shrink your way toward the body you want.

Build as much muscle as you possibly can. Your future self will thank you for every ounce of it.

“How do I trust myself again when I’ve broken promises to myself so many times before?”

That question...well...it's a struggle so many of us know all too well.

And I think it’s underneath SO many questions women ask me about fat loss and body recomp.

“What macros should I use?”
“How should I train?”
“Should I eat less?”

But underneath that is often…“How do I know I’m not going to fail at this again?”

I’m Cori, owner and head coach of Redefining Strength. After nearly two decades coaching women 40+ and helping thousands through fat loss and body recomp, I’ve learned that the answer usually isn’t another “perfect” plan.

It’s rebuilding trust in yourself.

And that starts by understanding WHY the other attempts fell apart.

Was the plan too restrictive?
Did it only work when life was calm?
Did your schedule change and the plan never change with it?
Were you trying to do six things perfectly when one or two changes would have actually moved you forward?

Because your past failures aren’t proof that you can’t do this.

They’re data for building a strategy that actually fits you now.

And sometimes the fastest way to rebuild your own confidence is to borrow some from someone else.

Someone who can see the blind spots you can’t.

Tell you when to push. Tell you when to back off.

And help you stop turning every hard week into another reason to start over.

That’s what coaching is supposed to do.

If you’re tired of trying to figure all of this out alone and want a strategy built around your body, your life and where you are right now…

Combine these moves for a double triset ladder workout! Perform moves 1-3 back to back, resting 45-60 seconds between rounds. Then rest 1-2 minutes and do moves 4-6 back to back, resting 45-60 seconds between rounds. Perform 15 reps of each move (per side) then 12 reps, 10 reps and finally 8 reps of each.

If you can work up in weight as you go down in reps and make sure you select a weight that is challenging for you for each move.

If you have limited weight options, you can vary the reps (going slightly higher or lower while descending) or progress moves through tempos or ranges of motion. You can even use rest-pause technique, pausing 15-20 seconds to get out the top number of reps if the weight you have does challenge you for the bottom number!

This came up on one of our live calls this week inside the Autumn Accelerator and Inner Circle…and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since…

But first…a massive shout out and fist bump to the woman who asked it…you know who you are! 👊

It took real courage to put herself out there and say it out loud. And I have a feeling a LOT of you are quietly carrying the exact same question.

Here's what she asked:

"What's the best way to gain trust and confidence in yourself when it's been broken so many times before? How is THIS time going to be different?"

As I read it out loud I realized…that THIS is the question underneath EVERY question I get about fat loss and recomp.

Not "what should I eat." Not "how should I train."

But…how do I trust myself again? After so many failed attempts have quietly convinced me that maybe I just…can't do this.

Because you can have the PERFECT plan and still sabotage it…if you don't trust yourself enough to see it through.

So I couldn't let this conversation go. I made a whole video podcast breaking down my answer.

And I'll be honest with you…it's not sexy. There's no macro hack. No training protocol. No quick fix. Which means part of you is going to want to skip it.

Please don't.

Because I truly think it might be the most important thing I've shared about actually making this time…this program…this plan…DIFFERENT.

In it, I walk through 3 keys to rebuilding trust in yourself…

So if you've ever looked at your track record and thought "why would this time be any different?"…

This one's for you.

Target your obliques from all angles using plank and crunch variations that include rotational, anti-rotational and lateral flexion movements.

This combination is a killer way to not only develop functional core strength but train your obliques using all the movements they help power or control.

And all you need is your own bodyweight.

For a quick core finisher series, even combine just 3-4 of these for 30 seconds per move or per side and perform 2-3 rounds through the series at the end of your workout!

To modify the plank moves, consider putting your hand or forearm up on a bench or incline over even trying any knee plank modification.

#1: Plank Kickunder
#2: Side Plank Crunch
#3: Banana Rolls
#4: Anti-Rotational Plank Toe Touch
#5: C-Sit Knees
#6: Oblique V-Up

We've been taught that a workout only "counts" if it wrecks us.

If we didn't sweat buckets, hit a PR, or feel completely spent…it doesn't feel like it mattered.

But that's not how progress actually works.

Because the workout that moves you forward isn't always the hardest one.

It's the one you showed up for on the day you had every excuse not to.

The one you did tired. Stressed. Short on time. On four hours of sleep. When quitting would've been so easy and so understandable.

THAT? That’s the one that counts more than you think.

Not because it was impressive. But because it kept the streak alive. It told your brain "I'm someone who shows up, even when it's hard."

And that…the showing up on the hard days…is what actually builds results.

Not the occasional killer session.

The consistency you strung together on the days you didn't feel like it.

So don't wait for the perfect workout. Don't skip because you can't give 100%.

Just show up.

This might be the most important thing I've shared about recomp…

And you're going to be tempted to skip it.

Because it's not a macro tip. It's not a training protocol. It's not a quick fix or anything sexy.

But someone left a comment on one of my lives recently that I haven't been able to stop thinking about.

She asked:

"What's the best way to gain trust and confidence in yourself when it's been broken so many times before? How is THIS time going to be different?"

And it stopped me cold. Because I realized…that's the real question underneath every single question I get about fat loss and recomp.

Not "what should I eat." Not "how should I train."

But…how do I trust myself again, after so many failed attempts have convinced me I just can't do this?

Because here's the hard truth…you can have the PERFECT plan and still sabotage it, if you don't trust yourself enough to see it through.

So if that trust feels broken, here are the 3 keys to rebuilding it…

1️⃣ Stack the small wins.

Every time you jump into a plan trying to do ALL the things perfectly…and fall off?

You stack more proof that you "can't."

So do the opposite.

Start almost embarrassingly small. Add 10g of protein to breakfast. Do 3 10-minute workouts a week. It'll feel too easy. That's the point.

Because every little win is PROOF. And proof is what rebuilds trust.

The more you do, the more you do.

2️⃣ Reframe your "failures" as data.

Those failed attempts aren't proof you can't.

They're you learning all the ways that DIDN'T work…which is exactly what makes the next thing work, if you reflect on them.

Often the plan wasn't even wrong. It was just wrong for that season of your life, or that mindset…or it worked until something shifted and you never adjusted.

Every "wrong turn" you remember is one you won't take again. That's not failure. That's a map.

3️⃣ Borrow confidence.

This is the one we resist hardest. We try to lone-wolf it. We think needing help is weakness.

"I should be able to do this myself."

But think about it like a car…

Cars used to have nothing but a couple mirrors and a lot of blind spots. Now? Cameras, sensors, alerts…you see everything, so you drive safer.

Support does the same thing. A coach, a community, someone who's done it…they see the blind spots you can't see from the driver's seat.

And when you really assess why things failed before?

So much of it comes down to this…you were trying to do it all alone.

Chasing the "perfect plan" instead of the perfect plan for YOU, right now…and throwing willpower at it because you couldn't see what actually needed to change.

You deserve support. You deserve to trust yourself again.

And sometimes the fastest way to rebuild that trust is to borrow a little confidence from someone who can see the whole road.

That's exactly what I do with my coaching clients.

So if you're tired of white-knuckling it alone…and you're ready to make THIS time actually different…

I'd love to help. 👇
