After 20 years in the fitness industry, I’ve learned that sustainable training for the general population looks a lot like a one-room schoolhouse.

Are You Racing Toward “Finished”?

Here’s what I want you to really take in: making **today** work for you, exactly as it is, matters more than holding your breath and waiting for “ideal conditions” to finally begin. Progress comes from stacking these days — not from waiting for the “perfect version of you” to magically appear.

Now let me ask you something: *What do you think happens between now and what you perceive to be the “ideal” or “finished” version of yourself?*

Before you answer, pause for a second and consider: *what does “ideal” or “finished” really mean?*

Here’s the truth that most people don’t realize: the only time we are truly *finished* is at the very end of life. That’s it. Until then, we’re all still in process — still growing, still learning, still changing. So when you chase after some “finished” version of yourself, you might actually be missing the life you have right now.

So let’s not race toward that final day. Instead, let’s learn to appreciate today — with all its imperfections, challenges, and even frustrations — as part of the journey.

Ask yourself: *what would the perfect day look like right now?* Maybe tomorrow will be even better. Maybe the next day will be harder. But there’s always another chance to show up, breathe, and live fully.

And let me circle back to where we started: making **today** work for you, exactly as it is, is the real key. If you can grasp that, you’ll stop waiting for “someday” and start building a life that works now.

**So let me turn the question back to you:**
*What is stopping you from starting right now?*
*What obstacles feel too big or too difficult to overcome — the ones that keep you from doing what you want to do today?*

These aren’t rhetorical questions. They’re the starting point. Because when you can name your obstacles, we can start dismantling them.
