Michigan moves. On rail-trails and riverwalks. Through forests, downtowns, and lakeshore communities. Into the places where some of our best memories are made.

Summer starts on the trail, and they need people behind them.

This summer, that someone is you.

Your support helps ensure more Michiganders can experience the freedom, adventure, and connection that trails make possible.

Thank you, Michigan Senate! The Michigan Natural Resource Trust Fund appropriation bill has passed the Senate and now awaits action in the House Appropriations Committee.

The MNRTF is one of the most important tools we have to advance trails across Michigan. From closing critical gaps to expanding access and connecting communities, MNRTF investments help bring local trail projects to life in every corner of the state.

MTGA will continue to support timely passage in the Legislature and advocate for predictable progress in future funding cycles. Reliable investment is essential for keeping trail projects moving and helping communities plan with confidence.

We’re grateful to the Senate for recognizing the importance of this program and are encouraged by the momentum as the process advances.

Stewardship is about caring for the places that care for us.

In the MI Trails 2050 report, communities made it clear that access and conservation must go hand in hand.

By 2050, every new trail will follow conservation best practices, built in partnership with land conservancies, Tribal Nations, and local trail advocates, and serve as a gateway to conservation education.
