The Swim Lessons Company is a small, family-owned swim school offering lessons in both NE Columbia and Lexington, SC. We teach children year-round between the ages of 12-months to 9 years of age. All classes are taught by Jim Reiser, Heather Reiser, and Jeb Reiser. We are all Learn-to-Swim Professionals with more than 50 years of combined experience!

Our Fall One session begins after Labor Day and includes:

What an incredible accomplishment!
This video from Valentina's final Swim Strokes 102/202 class highlights the hard work, determination, and confidence she's built in the pool. She has officially mastered the fundamentals of Freestyle with Side Breathing and Backstroke and has earned her place in our Advanced Swim Strokes 302 program!

What a fantastic achievement!
This video from Eliza's final Swim Strokes 102/202 class showcases just how much she has grown as a swimmer. Through dedication and consistent practice, she has successfully mastered both Freestyle with Side Breathing and Backstroke, earning her spot in our Advanced Swim Strokes 302 program!
🏊♀️ In Swim Strokes 302, Eliza will begin developing new skills, including:
✅ Butterfly
✅ Breaststroke
✅ Elementary Backstroke
✅ Treading Water
..while continuing to refine her Freestyle and Backstroke with greater strength, endurance, and technique.
At The Swim Lessons Company, we believe learning should be encouraging—not stressful. That's why we don't hold formal testing days. Instead, Coach Jim and Coach Heather evaluate each swimmer during every lesson throughout the year. When a swimmer consistently demonstrates the skills needed to move forward, we celebrate their accomplishment with a surprise graduation and a well-earned medal!
Every child learns at their own pace, and we love recognizing those milestones when the time is right. Seeing the excitement and pride on their faces makes these moments so special.

🛑 STOP SCROLLING.
You know the #1 rule: supervise near water.
Here are 2 more layers of protection — backed by research.
1️⃣ Swim lessons. Early.
Formal swim lessons = 88% lower drowning risk for kids 1–4.

Not "drowning-proof."
But it builds skills supervision alone can't teach. 🏊
2️⃣ Fence the pool. All 4 sides.
A fence that fully separates the pool from house and yard = 83% lower drowning risk vs. a 3-sided yard fence.

🎉 Three cheers for Rowen! 🎉
At just 4½ years old, Rowen has reached an awesome swimming milestone! He can now swim 25 feet with his face in the water, popping up for a quick breath when needed. What a huge accomplishment and a big step toward becoming a confident, capable swimmer!

This fall, Rowen will be joining our Swim Strokes 201/202 class, where he'll begin learning Freestyle with Side Breathing and Backstroke. We can't wait to watch his confidence soar and see all the new skills he'll master in the pool!

One Simple Skill That Can Make a Big Difference in Your Child's Water Confidence 💙
Did you know that many babies naturally open their eyes underwater? As they grow into toddlers and preschoolers, they often become more hesitant. They may think it will hurt or simply aren't sure it's safe.
That's why our Parent & Tot classes focus on building trust, confidence, and positive experiences in the water—never fear or pressure.
Once a child is comfortable going underwater, we gently encourage them to open their eyes. One of our favorite games is asking them:
👀 "Can you find Mommy or Daddy underwater?"
Instead of worrying about opening their eyes, they're focused on the fun challenge. It's amazing how often that simple change helps children become more confident!
Every child learns at their own pace, and we celebrate every small success. Whether it's a tiny peek, a little squint, or opening their eyes for the first time, each step builds confidence that will help them become safer and happier in the water.
