Little Buckaroos recap, 9/13, Halloween at the track:

Both girls in r-box class today! Kendall said she had enough of just hot lapping and felt ready to move up from kiddie kart and actually race! She was certainly ready and she showed it 💪🏼 For her first time running in the class, she did awesome! She ran great lines, kept the kart in control, gained a position and stayed on the pace lap! We’re so proud of how well she did and can’t wait to watch her advance in this class! 🩷

Kendall:
Heat 1: 4th -> 3rd
Heat 2: 1st -> 3rd
Feature: 3rd -> 4th

Payten:
Heat 1: 2nd -> 1st 🏁
Heat 2: 3rd -> 1st 🏁
Feature: 1st -> 1st 🏁🥇🧹

Clean sweep on the day for Payten!

Payten also raced Friday night at GSR Kartway - first time racing there this year. Had a great first heat race but the second was a disaster. She got put on her side but fought back after that. Unfortunately was called for a second caution and was removed from the race but it didnt stop her - she came back and drove to another feature win!

Thursday: rain out ⛈️ 👎🏼

Friday (day race), r-box blue plate (6 karts):
Qualified 4th
Feature: 4th -> 6th

Friday (night race), r-box green plate (15 karts):
Qualified 12th
Heat: 6th -> 2nd
Feature: 4th -> 7th

Saturday (night race), r-box green plate (13 karts):
Qualified 3rd
Heat: 2nd -> 2nd
Feature: 7th -> 7th

It was a packed weekend but everything was ran very smooth and we had a great racing surface despite how it looked Thursday after all the rain. We have to tip our hats to everyone that had a hand in running the program and their resilience to bring the track back after the pounding of rain they took!

Proud of Payten and the fight she continues to show every time she hits the track. She showed speed, raced hard and continued to put herself in the mix with some seriously fast drivers and karts 💪🏼🧡🏁 Congrats to all the winners on the weekend!

These are the weekends we value the most - not because everything goes perfectly and we come home with trophies, but because racing against fast competition exposes the areas we need to work on. There’s always something to learn (especially in the blue plate class), something to improve and things to take back to the shop before the next race.

We were fortunate enough to have the girls aunt and cousin join us for the action this weekend as well! We were able to squeeze in some waterpark, arcade and ice cream fun with them between racing 😊

As always, its so great to see our friends and fellow racers from out of town!

Friday, 8/14 and Sunday, 8/16 recap (Saturday, 8/15 in previous post):

▪️ Friday our travels took us west to Rice Lake Kart Track - after Lightning Speedway cancelled due to impending rain. We were pretty excited for Payt’s draw numbers of 7 and 8, until we realized it was passing points 😅

Green plate (12 karts checked in):
Heat: 1st -> 1st 🏁
Feature: 3rd -> 6th

Blue plate (7 karts checked in):
Heat: 2nd -> 4th
Feature: 5th -> 4th

The racers from that area really know how to throw down and aren’t afraid to do so. It was great to see our fellow racers/friends that we haven’t seen in a while! Payten did what she could.

Kendall showed more speed and consistency in her lines yesterday compared to her previous race! She was eager to get back out there and she drove to a smooth victory, her 3rd on the year! 👏🏼

Clean sweep on show 1 of the day. The feature of show 2, brought some bad luck. Passing for the lead, her clutch guard broke and got caught in the chain drive - causing her to have to pull to the infield 😖 the caution came out because of it, which then sent her to the back of the pack on the restart. In 4 laps, she worked her way back to 3rd and was reeling in the leaders. Unfortunately she ran out of laps and had to settle for 3rd but she was hauling and had her sights set on them!
