🔹Blue Belt Earned!🔹

This weekend, after a stellar competition performance, we had the honor of promoting Tommy Takemoto to blue belt. He displayed all of the things we see in the gym and reaffirmed the urgency for this promotion.

Tommy came to us with prior mixed martial arts experience but this didn’t prevent him from coming in with a beginners mindset. He came to us humble, learned quickly and become a terror in short time.

Tommy is a true martial artist and we could all learn from him. Congrats on a promotion well earned.

Yesterday we brought home our second team trophy of the year! 💪🏆

No one at Collective does this for some cheap medals, but the validation is always nice. It’s nice to be reminded that we’re on the right path and both teaching and learning effective technique.

Yesterday brought us adversity, overcoming, progress, community, and learning, and reminded us of the value of hard work. Those are the things that make this sport great and keep us showing up every week.

We’re so proud of all our teammates, including those who didn’t compete. This feels like an individual sport, but it’s not — nobody gets better on their own. We get better by showing up and pushing each other.

Great work but the victory lap is over. Tomorrow starts a new week and the beginning of the next chapter. You decide what’s written.

‼️SCHEDULE UPDATE‼️

Saturday 10/24 the gym will be CLOSED! We are taking a squad to Grappling Industries to compete. Feel free to travel along and root on your teammates!

Monday 10/26 all evening classes will be canceled. We will be participating in the Lititz Halloween Parade. All are welcome to join in the parade or to come out and watch!

Time to crush Grappling Industries and then crush some candy! 🤙👻

You can catch Christine Ayala every Tuesday at 5 pm for our Beginner Class. Christine breaks down the movements that make the bigger techniques effective while also working in the essential fundamentals.

This class is extremely valuable to beginners but is also great for mobility and warming up for our All Levels class at 5:30 pm.

This month we are working on all things open guard and we have a new Tip of the Week for you! 🙌

This week coach Mike Amabile shares a tip on dealing with grips in the open guard. Often the instinct is to try to over power the grip and to fight it head on. Don’t do that. Find the opening instead of trying to overpower the grip. Try it out this weekend 🤙
