Apparently, Naki’s mom came to shop for a Bolga basket… but Naki had other plans.

At first, he wasn’t too sure. A little sniff. A little inspection. A little “What exactly did you bring into my house?” 😹

And then… he got in.
That was it. His basket.

I love seeing our Bolga baskets find their way into people’s homes—even when the person who loves them most has four paws.

Handwoven in Ghana, made with care, and apparently… Naki approved. 🇬🇭🐾

There’s something special about knowing the story behind what you wear.

Bogolan isn’t just beautiful cloth. It carries texture, tradition, craftsmanship—and the unmistakable touch of something made by hand.

With our Rooted Collection, we’re taking that heritage and bringing it into pieces made to be worn, styled, loved, and lived in today. Afterall, tradition doesn’t have to stay in the past. It can move with us.

The Rooted Collection — Coming Fall/Winter 2026.

There’s something different about wearing something when you know the hands and the story behind it.

Meet Priscilla Agyeman, the creative hands behind these beautiful pieces.

Each one carries color, culture, creativity, and the beauty of something made by a real person, not a machine.

This is why we say: Know Who Made It. Because the story matters just as much as the piece.

Visit www.sankofamarket.place to learn my about our partners and shop their pieces.

What a beautiful way to spend a Sunday!

A huge thank you to The Seacret Sauce | Chicago Meal Prep and Chef Aura for bringing us together for Rooftop Pilates, and to everyone who came out, moved, laughed, connected, shopped and shared in the experience. A huge thanks to Gigi for making sure we were included.

We’re so grateful Ayebea’s Sankofa Marketplace could be part of such a beautiful gathering. There’s something special about being in spaces where wellness, community and supporting small businesses all come together. 🧘🏾‍♀️☀️

Thank you for welcoming us, supporting us and making the day so much fun. Until next time! 💙

One thing about me… I really do care about knowing who made the things we sell.

These aren’t just products to me. There are real people, real hands, real talent and generations of tradition behind them.
That connection matters. And I want you to know their stories too.

Know what you’re buying. Know where it comes from. And most importantly… know who made it.

There’s something different about wearing something made by real hands. ❤️

Someone chose the fabric, measured, cut, stitched and finished each piece with care. And those little variations? They aren’t flaws—they’re part of the story.

Know what you wear. Know who made it. 🇬🇭

I love the idea behind this carousel because it shows that our fabrics don’t have to be saved for a “special occasion.” They can simply be part of how we dress and how we live.

Ntama means fabric in Akan, and there are so many ways to make it your own. Wear it to work. Dress it down for the weekend. Throw on a beautiful kimono for dinner. Mix it with pieces already in your closet.

There really isn’t one “right” way to wear it. For me, that’s part of the beauty of keeping tradition alive. We don’t have to leave it in the past. We carry it forward, we make it our own, and we wear it in ways that fit the lives we live today.

So tell me… which look feels most like you?

Know who made it. Know the hands behind the work.

You’ve seen the beads. Now meet Abdul Rahman, the artisan partner in Ghana whose hands are behind all of ASM’s waist bead strands.

Each strand represents more than beautiful color. It carries skill, patience, tradition, and craftsmanship; made by a real person whose work deserves to be seen, valued, and named.

At Ayebea’s Sankofa Marketplace, knowing who made it matters. Because when you choose handmade, you’re not simply purchasing a product, you’re supporting the artisan behind it.

His name is Abdul. And we want you to know it.

Do you own a strand of ASM waist beads? Tell us your favorite color combination below. 👇🏾

We talk a lot about what we buy—but how often do we ask, “Who made this?”

Behind every basket, bead, and handcrafted piece is a person, a story, and a tradition passed down through generations.

At Ayebea’s Sankofa Marketplace, we invite you to look beyond the product and connect with the amazing people who bring each piece to life.

Know who made it. Honor the hands. Value the story. 💛
