Shark Stewards – Saving Sharks 09/06/2026

Our next club meeting will be on September 9 at El Torito, 3333 E. Foothill Blvd., Pasadena starting at 6:30 pm.

Our speaker will be Maria Korcsmaros, who is a shark attack survivor turned shark advocate. In 2016, a great white shark bit Maria while swimming at Big Corona beach in Corona del Mar, CA. Rather than be bitter from this experience, Maria turned fear into fascination and turned to advocacy in recovery. She chose to protect sharks & the ocean with the help of the Shark Stewards team

Shark Stewards – Saving Sharks Shark Stewards saves endangered sharks and rays sharks from overfishing and the wildlife trade, and protecting marine habitat. Join us!

One of the more important lessons in the sport of scuba diving is your ability to call a dive. Today we had 10 people show up, but we all agreed to call it due to some rather large surf (not in this photo). Instead of diving, we had a casual breakfast and took in a beautiful day walking around the South Laguna area. There's always another day to dive, so stay safe and be ready to call a dive.

We are saddened by the recent passing of our dear dive buddy, Sheree Lahey. Although Sheree moved to Florida many years ago, she remained a cherished part of our dive club and will be greatly missed.

We will always treasure the memories of the dives, adventures, trips, and, most of all, the laughter we shared along the way.

Rest in peace, Sheree. You will always be remembered as a beloved dive buddy and friend.
