A new record! Congratulations to everyone involved with the Chamber Day/Night fundraiser.
We had an incredible day and night with outstanding divers, and we'd like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported our event. We’re excited to welcome our special guest speaker, Andrew Wiens, for our February meeting!
Andrew brings a huge depth of experience across the diving, travel, and marine education worlds, including:
• Scuba retailer and instructor at Blue Cheer in Santa Monica
◦ Leading both beach and boat dives
• Media sales experience with Rodale’s Scuba Diving (“the magazine divers trust”), Sport Diver, and PADI
• Resort management across the Pacific, from Yap to Avalon
• Management roles with major West Coast dive gear companies, including DUI, Scubapro, Atomic, Sherwood, Oceanic, Suunto, and Ultralight
• Media sales at TripAdvisor, working with international tourism boards in the U.S. market (Canada Tourism, Visit Australia, Fiji Tourism)
• Currently: Development Director for Guided Discoveries, the nonprofit organization behind Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) and Catalina Sea Camp (CSC)
Andrew will share his dive and travel insights, and talk about how CIMI and CSC are helping build the next generation of ocean stewards. A Q&A session will follow the talk.
