Has it been 4 months already?!?! Yep π just saying hey for my quarterly post! π One of my pre-New Years resolutions is to increase my consistency with cardio. Every now and then I fall off the wagon of momentum and need to build back up! Who else is jumping on the Cardiho-ho-ho for next year?
One of the things I always think about as a trainer around this time of year is the hype over resolutions. They are GREAT, don't get me wrong. BUT....only if you do something to make the resolutions a reality! So "New Year's Resolutions" really aren't that great.
β’After New Years you're tired- so it's harder to begin.
β’February rolls around and you think "hey i'm swamped right now- i'll start this summer with more free time".
β’Summer rolls around and you're "too busy" with vacation and relaxation so you say Fall.
β’Fall happens and it's hard to get in the mode from summer vacation brain.
β’Then winter rolls around- you're busy with holidays and say "New Years! This year is reeeally the year!
Repeat cycle.
The best time to begin any resolution or goal is NOW. Don't tie it to a time when you think life will be less busy or stressful....chances are- it won't! Four months just flewwww by for me...how fast were the last few months for you?
Learn And Lift, LLC
I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Fascial Stretch Therapy Practitioner in Louisville, KY!
My main passion is helping clients to unleash their inner strength, by unlocking their physical strength and mobility.
Just poppin' in to say hello! You probably know I'm not a super huge fan of spending my time on social media, so sometimes months go by and I realize I haven't posted anything πππ. I love one-on-one in person conversation the most! And that's one of my favorite pieces of training- being able to discover meaning and connection through movement and active communication ππΎ.
Learning the skill of lifting is one thing, but being able to create enough enjoyment and purpose in it for yourself is what will keep a life long routine sustainable.
That's why I'm low key dropping my first guide to training in a simple e-book format, to take some intimidation out of the weight room and help you create a routine that is challenging for you as an individual, but also helps you meet your goals for enjoyment and engagement at the same time. Check out my upper body guide to Arm Gainz at https://msha.ke/learnandlift if you're ready to take training into your own hands!
I hope to find time to create more content like this over the next few years π€πΎ. I struggle to find a mode of sharing outside of one-on-one's that I feel I can stick with. And I've gotta say, I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience through this mode of creative expression. ππΎ
Enjoy and happy lifting!
Best way to get better at something?
BREAK-IT-DOWWWN and practice :)
Don't you just love the smooth movement happening here?! Almost like moon-walking πππΎππΎππΎ.
Example: Is bouldering something you want to improve? Don't just boulder- reinforce the mind-to-muscle connection by practicing those movement patterns in other ways too.
-Grip Strength.
-Shoulder strength.
-Core Strength.
-Single Leg Strength.
-Hip and Shoulder mobility.
Getting ready to climb allll the things! ππΎββοΈ
If you don't consider yourself a "dancer", just wait until your next stretch!
Phrases I have heard after stretching that will make you want to flail around and feel your joint freedom to its fullest π:
-Noodle limbs
-Twerkin' knees
-Wobbly body
-Dancin' hips
-Clients literally shimmying their hips as they get up from the table
In order to create long-term change, you're going to have to strengthen in your range of motion...so may as well get your dance on π€·πΎββοΈ. Let's goooooo! ππ½πΊππΎββοΈπ§πΎββοΈ

When your clients appreciate your brand color schemes π!
Red is my favorite color. But has evolved into muted versions along the way- and of course it found its way into my branding (unintended)!
Burgundy/Maroon brings a sense of power and drive but through a more calm and collected vibe...hoping it makes you feel at home in our workouts or in our stretches π₯π§πΎββοΈ
Same location, but I'll see you in the new Stretch Room next time you come in! π
Also ***NEW BOOKING LINK*** coming out tomorrow! All of my website/profile will be updated, but if you tend to go directly to thing link itself- it will be DIFFERENT as of tomorrow.
Reach out for the new one if I don't have you on my list to contact yet, or check back here for the updated link!

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO.....When an artist asks for a marker....at least once you bring one out to see what happens π
Anyone else draw the alphabet (or numbers/phrases/shapes/etc) with a powerband?! This can be done going up and down, or forward and back. Standing, kneeling, sitting, laying down....you can do it any way you want!
It adds some extra oblique and shoulder stability to control moving in different directions, and of course some extra "fun"! ππΎββοΈ
Sometimes our sessions might turn into a dance party ππΊπ
Working on some ankle based shifts in squats can help you fire up that mind to muscle connection while improving strength and mobility at the same time. It's a winner all around and great to do with or without weights!
Go slow and work in your own range of motion for all aspects of this movement ππΎββοΈ

The ball pit....FOR ADULTS!
Who else loves exercises with balls? The Stability ball that is. Talk about extra core engagement and hip stability in ever single rep!
A great substitute to switch things up with any exercise you might typically do on a bench, and so much more π
Come on in for a technique session and I can show you how to incorporate it and take control of your core stability!
