🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Happy Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I hope you know your authentic self…
I hope you get to love yourself…
I hope you get to love yourself OUT LOUD!
I hope you get to explore who you are and thrive. ✨
I hope you have family-be it chosen or biological.
I hope you have community.
I hope you are safe.
I hope you are loved completely.

And if you don’t belong to the community:

I hope you choose love.
I hope you choose to love your “neighbor”…
Regardless of their orientation or identity.
I hope you give people space to explore and be their authentic selves without fear of judgment or personal safety.
I hope that, even if you don’t understand it… or it doesn’t align with your path for *your own life*, you can respect the lives of others.
I hope you open your heart and mind to a world outside of yourself.
I hope you find enlightenment.
I hope you are a friend and ally.

I love you all. 🧡🐦‍🔥

This move is called Artemis ✨

…Though admittedly, if you look up Artemis, you’ll find dozens of variations of this move. Honestly? I find that a little frustrating sometimes. There doesn’t seem to be one definitive version, and that can make it feel hard to know if you’re “doing it right.”
But I attempted it anyway.

This is the version my body landed on and found accessible in the moment.

In the variation I’m doing, I’m trying to arch back like I’m taking my head toward my foot. That shape helps drive my hip and belly back into the pole for pressure and support.

Other versions I’ve seen? Dancers are practically floating beside the pole. 🤯
I personally haven’t cracked that code yet… but I’m willing to keep trying. 😅

Sometimes that’s just part of Pole Dance.

Our body shapes, proportions, strengths, mobility, and limitations can completely change how a move feels from person to person. Some things will come easier to us. Some will take a different approach. And sometimes we have to experiment a little to find the version that works best for our body—and that feels safe.

That’s something I really value about the environment we try to create at Freestyle. Our instructors work hard to help students troubleshoot movement, explore different entries and shapes, and find approaches that feel more accessible instead of forcing everyone into one exact mold.

Have you tried Artemis? Which variation are you doing? Tag us so we can see! 🧡

Let’s RISE Together! 🐦‍🔥

I missed two very important birthdays this month… and I need to fix that. 🧡

Happy 10th birthday to Yona Bear 🐻 (bonus Puppy video at the end!)
And happy 15th birthday to Freestyle Fitness—my dream baby. 🐦‍🔥

15 years.

I remember being 22 years old, signing the lease to the first place Freestyle would call home at Mellwood Art Center.

Rent was going to be $1700/month… and I was barely making $1600/month at the time.

Somehow… I made the rent.
Until eventually, we built a steady flow of students.

I didn’t know what I was doing.
I kinda still don’t. lol

But I signed anyways. And I’m really glad I did.

I genuinely don’t have the words to fully express my gratitude for everyone who has supported this dream over the years.

Freestyle isn’t just a space. It’s a community. It’s built by the people who walk through the doors and bring their light, their energy, and their effort into it.

You are what makes this place what it is.

Looking back at where we started… and seeing where we are now… it’s wild. And I’m so excited for where we’re going next, because of you.

Thank you for being part of this journey. 🧡🐦‍🔥🛡️

And truly, congrats to all of the performers. Several I either know or recognize. This lineup is stacked with talent and some of Louisville’s absolute finest.

Go out there and STRUT. 💃🕺🔥

✨ BURLESQUE IS BACK at Freestyle Fitness ✨

And we are beyond thrilled to introduce Tigresse Bleu—bringing a witchy, intentional, spirit-led energy to our burlesque program. 🖤🔮

Tuesdays at 5pm
Soft starter: Tomorrow!
(Classes will pause the following two weeks)
Official launch: 3/24

Tigresse Bleu is a stargazer, diviner, spirit sleuth, ecdysiast, and poet based in Louisville, KY. Their art lives at the intersection of spirit and embodiment—whether through poetry, music, or dance. Everything they create is rooted in intention.

They’ve been performing burlesque since 2020—but have been shakin’ it since entering this realm. (To quote their aunt: Tigresse came into this world walking on their toes.)

Tigresse has performed and produced with incredible regional productions including The Bizarre Bazaar, Bette’s Burlesque, The Haus of Loveless (Louisville), Burlex (Lexington), Queen Bee Cabaret & Smoke & Qu**rs (Cincinnati), White Rabbit Cabaret (Indianapolis), and many more.

They are also the producer behind:
✨ B***y Moves: A Strip & Sketch Show
✨ Opus: A Night of Poetry and Burlesque
✨ Whirly Burley Brunch

This class will explore burlesque through a mystical lens—confidence, character, sensuality, storytelling, and embodied power.

If you’ve been craving something expressive, playful, and a little magical… this is your sign. 🔥

Welcome to the coven, Tigresse. 🐦‍🔥🧡

10 years apart. Same duet partner. Same magic. 🧡

These photos are from Braden’s and my first duet together in 2016—and the duet we’re performing now in “Au ReVoir.”

Braden has always been one of my favorite dance partners… and one of my best friends. I call him my dance husband. We spent so many years dancing together, and our chemistry was so natural that people genuinely thought we were together. 😂

But that’s just who Braden is. He’s easy to trust. Easy to move with. Easy to create with.

There’s a kind of unspoken understanding when you dance with someone for that long. You stop thinking so much. You just know each other.

Getting to share the stage with him again—especially in this show, at this moment—means more to me than I can fully put into words.

I’ve missed this. I’ve missed us.

And I’m so grateful we get to do it again. 🐦‍🔥

Come see us in The Va Va Vixens’ “Au ReVoir.”

12 years apart. Different stage. Still yoked. 💪🏼😅

The photo on the left was from my very first Va Va Vixens show—back when we performed at Headliners, before Art Sanctuary became the place we would come to call home.

I had no idea then how deeply becoming a Vixen would shape me.

Va Va gave me a place to grow—not just as a performer, but as a person. It gave me confidence. Identity. Family.

Art Sanctuary became a sanctuary in every sense of the word. It held us while we evolved, created, struggled, and triumphed.

Taking time away this past year was necessary… but I’ve missed this part of myself. I’ve missed my Va Va family.

Today as I’m preparing for opening night, I feel overwhelming gratitude—for where we started, for what we built, and for the chance to step onto this stage again while we still can.

Come join us for “Au ReVoir.” Let’s celebrate this home and give it the send-off it deserves. 🧡🐦‍🔥
