March is National Athletic Training Month, and we want to recognize someone who has been a cornerstone of Madison Athletics for more than 25 years — our athletic trainer, Dave Pappenheim.

Dave has built a reputation as someone our student-athletes, coaches, and families trust completely. Whether it’s a star player or someone who rarely sees a playing surface, Dave provides the same level of care, attention, and expertise to every athlete who walks through the training room doors.

While he spends his days working as a physical therapist at Norton King’s Daughters’ Health, Dave dedicates countless hours to Madison athletics — often evaluating several various injuries in a single evening and helping our student-athletes recover, rehabilitate, and safely return to play.

Coaches know that when something doesn’t seem right, the answer is simple: “Send them to Dave.” His knowledge, experience, and commitment to athlete safety and well-being make him an invaluable part of our athletic department.

For more than two decades, Dave has helped keep our Cubs healthy, safe, and competing at their best.

Thank you, Dave, for everything you do for Madison student-athletes!
