🎃 Perfect night for all the monsters and creatures to gather for an epic Halloween run. From zombies, robots, ninjas, skeletons, monks, shadows, and professional soccer players to cows, pigs, crows, and sharks… even Waldo showed up! And of course, our ‘Local Legend’ and ‘KOM’ from Strava joined in—all together for an amazing night run.

The turnout was incredible last night, with all the runners dressed up in style. For our annual Halloween run, we took “The Bat” route—check out the route shape on Strava! 🦇

We ran the streets of Manitou until we reached our beloved Intemann Trail to chase those scary werewolves and trail spirits all the way to the Manitou Cemetery. The weather was perfect, but you know how much you can sweat under those costumes—ugh! 👻

When we reached the cemetery in the dark, we saw bright red eyes staring at us from all over the place. As we turned onto the small path to Emma Crawford’s tombstone, a huge pair of eyes was guarding the tomb… a massive buck with enormous antlers! He didn’t move at all, so we gently walked by so he wouldn’t be disturbed. Finally, we were able to pay a visit to the legendary Emma Crawford and show our respects. 🪦

The way back through Manitou was pleasant as always—all of us together like a herd of monsters heading back to our cave. We packed the back area of The Keg, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and fabulous drinks.

What a night to remember! Thanks to everyone for showing up. 🎃👻🧟‍♀️👹💀🧙

People ask questions about why do we like to run. There’s books explaining the different theories about running—as a sport, recreation, staying alive, competition—trying to find answers about how did humans evolved and ended up running for fun instead of survival.

Nowadays we don’t run to chase an animal to feed ourselves. We don’t run to escape a velociraptor. We run because…

Adrenaline
Searching for solitude
Deep connection with nature
Feeling alive
Finding sanity
Gratitude
Feeling stronger
Plenitude
Honoring our bodies
Searching for a better version of ourselves

We run because it’s hard. It’s easier to stay on that couch.

We run because we don’t want it, but we just do it.

We run because we can.

Because we have two functional legs and a body that still works. Or that’s what we like to think.

We run to connect. With other people. With nature. With our own self.

I run because it makes my life happier.

And you?

Our Wednesday run was amazing by the way! 🤙🏼😎

🚨WEDNESDAY ALERT GROUP RUN 🚨
OCTOBER 21st
⛰️IRON MOUNTAIN ROUTE IN REVERSE! 🤙🏼

Get ready for another reverse route this week. We are running straight to Iron Mountain from Pawnee. A very nice climb of about 780ft to the summit. ⛰️

It will be a great leg-workout midweek run. Once at the summit, we’ll take a short break. Take photos. Smile. Stretch. Get your turbo and fly down! ☄️

We start from our hub at The Keg Lounge straight to the painful Pawnee St, regather at Iron Mtn trailhead, run and conquer that summit that feels like home!

Then? We unleash the brakes. We are flying down, back towards the trailhead— and this is where we take the reverse way through Intemann trail all the way to Ruxton Ave. Then, just relieve those legs, relax and run back to the Keg.

We’ve done this route so many times, but not in this direction. So, another tweak just for fun. Also we’ll get a bit more light on Iron Mtn. before it goes dark. But please bring your headlamps! 💡

💫 Dark nights have arrived and with them the cool air in the mountains and moist trails. Last night the crew enjoyed a great run, a bit of a drizzle and a challenging climb. Running NRT in reverse and then climbing those stairs through the Incline. Heck yeah! 😎

Once the crew reached the Incline, there was still a bit of light and after a couple of minutes, that unique glow of dusk made an appearance. What a view! If you’re an avid trail runner, you must know that feeling, when the dark approaches and the crisp air enter your lungs and allows you to breathe deeper. A sense of adventure and excitement. 💥

These runs are so special because they leave you with a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

✨ Headlamps on! And now it’s time to fly down Barr Trail— A trail that feels like home to us. Knowing every switchback and every curve; navigating a well-known route.

These runners don’t hesitate. They thrive. They enjoy every step. They commit!

This is what we love. Period.

ManitouRunClub. Keeping it real. 🤙🏼

✨ Last night was amazing. The weather was perfect. Friends showed up on time to start a great run up to the Incline. We welcomed six new runners! Nic, Jimmy, Colin, Tyler, Andrew, and Rahoul (I hope I spelled that right).

🪜 We climbed through those happy stairs until we reached North Ridge Trail to tackle that super fun downhill.

The air started to cool down, and the light started to dim. We climbed to the summit of Ute Pass Trail and continued to reach the top of Rattlesnake Gulch.

Headlamps on! 💡 We started that amazing descent we all love. We definitely felt the crisp air of fall and enjoyed the beautiful dusk sky. 🌌

Once we reached Ruxton Ave, we flew back to our hub to enjoy the good company, hot food and cool drinks. 🍻

Cheers to trails, to beautiful mountains and to this run club made of amazing people! 🤙🏼

🚨Next week: NEW ROUTE! Stay tuned 🤩
