Here is how our season is currently going. August will be a big month to make some last pushes in the points race. Our ideal season would end with both cars in the top 10.
Points you ask? Here they are!! 📊
Fights throughout the field make August a vital month for the MLDS!!

Another fantastic night at Sycamore Speedway. Even with all of the rain the last few days they gave us a beautiful racetrack. It was smooth and had multiple grooves.
I qualified 4th overall out of 18 cars. In the heat I went from 3rd to 3rd which started me 3rd row outside for the feature. In the feature I moved up from 6th to 4th.
Dad had a solid night with the car coming home in one piece. He started 16th and finished 15th in the feature.
Thank you to Sycamore for running an extremely efficient show. Not including qualifying, racing started at 7:30 and the final checkered flag flew at 9:15pm. After having a few shows over the last few weeks where our heat races didn’t even hit the track until 9:30, it felt great to be on the road by then.
Next weekend is an easy one. On Friday August 7th we will be at Gravity Park. There is no other racing taking place that weekend so we will have some time to get things ready for a 3 race week the following week.

It felt great to get back to Maquoketa. Overall it was a solid night of racing. Another night of great car counts with 35 legends in attendance. In my heat race I started 5th and finished 2nd. The car was very good and I felt like I could have grabbed the win but with only 6 laps for the heats I just ran out of time. In the feature I started 7th and finished 6th. I ended up running the top which is not what I was geared for but I made the best of it.
Dad had an up and down night. On the up side, he actually got to complete all of his scheduled laps tonight as that was not the case the last time we visited Maquoketa. On the downside, he finished 7th in his heat race and 8th in his B-main which means he did not qualify for the show. Because of the mechanical issues the last time we visited the track, these were his first laps on the track since 2019. He got more comfortable as the night went on and he made some good notes for next time.
Thank you to Maquoketa Speedway for another great night of racing and for being such a great supporter of the Midwest Legends Dirt Series. Tomorrow (tonight?) July 31st we are scheduled to race at Sycamore Speedway on the small track. Keep an eye on the weather as that could change. On August 1st we will be back at Sycamore Speedway on the big track.

Night 1 of 3 this weekend!
#1 of 3, it’s RACEDAY!!
The MLDS returns to Maquoketa Speedway once again for the Jackson County Fair to start the triple-header weekend off. Maquoketa is known for first time winners, will we see someone new on top or a familiar face in victory lane tonight?!

We are taking the rest of the weekend off. After getting home at 5am and getting a few hours of sleep, we woke up this morning to find oil on the trailer. We are going to dive in and figure out the cause and get ready for our triple header weekend to wrap up July/kickoff August.

A very late race results post as it was a very late night at the track (our feature ended around 12:15am-ish). We had a fun time at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. I went from 5th to 2nd in the heat race. Dad started and finished 7th. In the feature dad started and finished 21st. I fought really hard to get to the bottom on the first lap as it looked really good down there. Then I realized that the middle had rubbered up. By the time I got clear I had fallen from 2nd back to 7th which is where I ran for the rest of the race. Overall a solid night and one little misjudgment at the start of the race kept me out of the top 5. Back to back top 10s feels great though considering the struggle bus that we were riding these last few weeks.
Tomorrow’s original plan was to head to Maquoketa. We’re going to have to assess that plan once we get a nap in. Current eta to arrive home is about 5am.
