Is it Folkstyle? Freestyle? Neither! Beach wrestling is a real sanctioned sport under United World Wrestling and USA Wrestling, governing bodies for world and national wrestling tournaments of all styles.

What’s it look like? The “mat” is a 23 foot wide ring in the sand. Matches are one period that is three minutes long. Scoring points is simple: push them out, take them down, or throw to the back. First to three points wins!

But where you gonna get a beach in Thibodaux? Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex boasts a top notch beach volleyball facility. Our rings will fit there just fine.

Do I need a USA Wrestling membership to sign up? No, anyone can sign up to participate. Adults and teens will be asked to provide their years of grappling experience (wrestling or jiu jitsu) to keep it as even as possible.

How do I sign up? Registration runs Monday, May 4 to Thursday, May 21 on USAbracketing.com. Free account required, but it’s big value. This allows for easy registration process, bracket set up, and smooth running the day of the tournament.
