Long days in the studio, lots of hard work, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of love for what we do. Sharing this space and this experience together fills our cups every single time.

Black History Month at J’adore DANCE

As we step into Black History Month, we want to take a moment to acknowledge something that matters deeply to us as dancers and educators…much of dance history IS Black history.

So many of the styles we train in today were created, shaped, and pushed forward by Black artists and communities. The movement we love today didn’t appear out of nowhere, and it deserves to be recognized, respected, and understood. To be frank, much of dance was not just inspired by black artists and communities, it was built by them.

Throughout February, we’ll be taking time to highlight the roots of different dance styles and celebrate the Black artists who helped shape them. Each week, we’ll share a spotlight through our studio updates and social media stories as a way to stay connected to where our art comes from.

Our hope is simple; that our dancers grow not just in skill, but in awareness and appreciation. We invite our families to learn alongside us, ask questions, and explore further if they feel called to. Additional resources will be shared through our weekly studio updates for those who want to dive deeper.

Dance is more than steps.
It’s culture. It’s history.
