Yesterday, the Nassau County PBA was honored to take part in the United States Merchant Marine Academy Law Enforcement Appreciation Football game. They honored our hero, Police Officer Michael Hyland who delivered the game ball to midfield. Also, Chief of Department Christopher Ferro participated in the coin toss. Thank you to all who helped coordinate this event, especially Lou Bernardi and the staff at the Academy. The Mariners put on a dominant performance winning 56-24. Good luck the rest of the season and thank you for a wonderful day!

Today, we remember Detective Charles Vroom who passed 5 years ago today. Detective Vroom sadly passed as a result of complications from Covid-19 contracted while on duty. The Nassau County PBA will never forget our fallen and their families.

As part of our remembrance of the heroes we lost on this day 25 years ago, the Nassau County PBA was honored to stand with the families of our fallen at our Memorial Wall this morning. We will their sacrifice.

We Will Never Forget.

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We especially remember our NCPD brothers who we have lost to 9/11-related illnesses. Their service, sacrifice, and memory will never be forgotten.

This past weekend the Nassau PBA was honored to attend the LEO Weekend Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Citi Field. This year our very own Officer Michael Hyland was honored to throw out the first pitch alongside other officers injured in the line of duty. Thank you to Austin Glickman and his entire team at LEO Weekend for providing a memorable experience for Officer Hyland and his family!

Over the last few weeks the Nassau County PBA held our yearly backpack giveaway events. These 3 events taking place in Long Beach, Glen Cove, and Westbury provided backpacks and school supplies for those who need them most. The Nassau PBA is honored to be able to give back to the communities we serve. Thank you to the residents who participated and the local elected officials who helped organize the events.

Today, the Nassau County joined with our members at the Funeral for Active Nassau County Police Officer Michael Mendolia. His service and dedication to the residents of Nassau County will never be forgotten. Please continue to keep Officer Mendolia and his family in your prayers.

The Nassau County PBA regrets to announce the passing of active 8th Precinct Police Officer Michael Mendolia. Officer Mendolia began his career with the NYPD and joined the Nassau County Police Department in 2008 serving his entire Nassau career in the 8th Precinct.
