What better way to prep for school to start back than reading to a horse!? That's right, Books in the Barn is back!

Next Thursday, August 6th from 3:30-5:30, we will be opening the barn doors for your kids to come and read. To reserve your spot, click on the link to submit your time/horse and then follow the instructions to send your fee. After that, you will be good to go!

Introducing Bright Star's very first group of Jr. Volunteers! They came out today and trained to be able to help out with all kinds of tasks around the ranch that will not only make things easier here but also help them develop a variety of skills as they grow. They already love this place and we love that they are willing to pour back into it. (And that their parents are willing to bring them!)

This is a phrase (or a variation of it) that I use a lot during lessons. Unfortunately throughout life, things often happen TO us that we may not have brought on ourselves. It's during those times that it can be tough to walk through the feelings involved and help people. Whether it's anger, pride, disappointment, fear, etc. I try to remind them that all we have control over is our own actions and that's where we have to start. Once we shift the focus onto what we CAN control and work from there, it makes it easier to move forward.

There are always going to be days that knock you down and sometimes there's more of those than there are good ones. That's ok. The most important thing is, when the good days come around, you get up and go again!

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Independence is not something to be taken for granted; as a country or an individual. Independence is a goal that we work toward with many of our participants. Whether it's been taken from them because of a health issue, lack of confidence, past trauma, etc. we work toward building the skills that will allow each person to be as independent as possible.

So, as you are celebrating today, be grateful for the independence and freedom you have living in this country but also for those same things as an individual. We are truly blessed!!

A BIG thank you to this great group of kids and leaders for 2 days of hard (and HOT) work around the ranch!!

They accomplished a long list of tasks that have been a huge help to us and they did it without complaining. We can't say thank you enough for the hard work and kindness!

Today and tomorrow, we have a group from church camp serving at the ranch. They have about 25 kids who are coming out to help with LOTS of summer cleaning around the facility.

After putting in a lot of hard work in the heat today, we took a moment to explain how these tasks are not just cleaning up places and things but helping us to be good stewards of money that has been earned or donated and spent toward a facility/materials that we want to see last for a long time. We talked about how it's better to take care of what you already have than to continually replace things.

This was a great group of kids and we look forward to seeing them again tomorrow! (Hopefully we'll remember to slow down and take more pics...today was BUSY!!)❤️
