For more than 15 years, I’ve read Halloween stories each October to 2nd graders at Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary School, in the classrooms of the two teachers who taught my own children in 2nd grade. My kids have always come with me. I started bringing them when they were small, and I’ve kept bringing them as they’ve grown. We want them to know the people who built their foundation and to walk back through those halls every year as a reminder of where it started. This year, with my daughter away at college, my son came along to help. We found three Snee Farm Swim Team swimmers in the audience. I love it when this happens!

I stepped away from coaching in 2024 after 35 years, but I’m still around the pool and still cheering for these kids. Seeing them in their classrooms, surrounded by friends and teachers, is a good reminder of everything else they’re growing into. Same big smiles, no goggles.

Thank you to Judy White and Ann Alexander and all of the faculty and staff at Whitesides for the care and preparation you give our community’s young people, year after year – and for keeping this tradition going!

The weather the past few days feels like a reprise of the 2016 CCAA - Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association Championship Meet at Crowfield. Because the meet was outdoors until 2021 (except for one year in the early-80s at Deas Hall at The Citadel), each team generally had a tent as a "home base" over the 3-day competition. The "Tent City" was fun and awesome, but the grounds could also become inundated during a storm!

* Shout out to super parent Shawn Condrey for his excellent work in those years in always making sure the SFST tent was ship-shape, regardless of weather conditions!

What an amazing league (CCAA - Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association) we are a part of!

Story Game!

This fun deep end game dates back to the 1980s and is another beloved Snee Farm Swim Team & Snee Farm Country Club pool tradition!

These photos are from May 2021. We played Story Game for the first time that year with the 8&unders, and the code word was "hot"! After a 6-minute story, a winner emerged after 6 of the final 7 jumped in on "hop."

Ahh, the morning practice receiving line!

This is a long-standing Snee Farm Swim Team tradition. It enables us to form bonds with each other, serves as the foundation upon which sportsmanship is built (developing and practicing the tools for meeting others, looking others in the eye, shaking their hand, and exchanging greetings and pleasantries with them), and is a great example of role modeling that reinforces the important parts of SFST culture!

A throwback for members of the Snee Farm Swim Team "Old School!"

It has been 10 years since the original Bowman Road McDonald's was demolished and then rebuilt. SFST members of the 1980s
and 1990s remember when it was our post-meet destination (blue coupons for free small fries!).

We have been patronizing Ye Olde Fashioned on 17 for several decades for our post-meet gatherings!

From the The Post and Courier this week! (correction to the article - the neighborhood was created in the 1960s, and Snee Farm Swim Team launched in 1971).

Charles Pinckney purchased a 715-acre plantation in modern-day Mount Pleasant named Snee Farm in 1754 — at that time, it was considered to be in the country.
