Let’s meet boys Head Wrestling Coach- Zac Carscallen

🐻 BUILT THROUGH THE WORK. FORGED THROUGH ADVERSITY.

Moscow High School is proud to have Zac Carscallen leading our Boys Wrestling program.

A Moscow Bear — Class of 2013 and University of Idaho Vandal — Class of 2017, Coach Carscallen is entering his 5th year as Head Coach and 11th year coaching wrestling. His coaching journey began in 2016 as a volunteer middle school coach before joining the MHS staff as an assistant coach later that year.

For Coach Carscallen, wrestling is about much more than wins and losses.

It’s about the process.

Wrestling teaches athletes to embrace adversity, control what they can control, sharpen their craft, and keep fighting when things get hard. There are no shortcuts—just preparation, discipline, toughness, and the willingness to put in the work.

“If you’re willing to do the work, overcome adversity, and give it your all—then what more could we ask?”

That mindset is at the heart of Moscow Wrestling.

Coach Carscallen’s favorite part of coaching is watching athletes grow—not just as wrestlers, but as people. Seeing a young athlete develop confidence, overcome challenges, achieve goals, and discover what they are capable of is what makes this sport so powerful.

Small victories become big victories.
The work becomes confidence.
The adversity becomes strength.

And it all starts on the mat.

Moscow Bears Wrestling.
Embrace the work. Control the controllables. Get better every day.

🐻 BEAR DOWN.

We are excited to finally share the news!

🔥 A NEW ERA OF MOSCOW GIRLS WRESTLING STARTS NOW! 🔥

🐻🤼‍♀️ WELCOME HOME, COACH SCOTT PALMER!

Moscow High School is proud to announce Scott Palmer as the first-ever Girls Head Varsity Wrestling Coach!

A Moscow High School alum, Coach Palmer brings 15 years of wrestling coaching experience at the youth and high school levels—including the past 10 years as a Moscow High School Varsity Assistant, where he has been a driving force behind the development of our girls wrestling program.

His commitment doesn’t stop at the high school. Coach Palmer also serves as a volunteer assistant at Moscow Middle School, working alongside Coach Haley with the highly successful Moscow Middle School all-girls wrestling program.

💪 BUILDING SOMETHING BIGGER

Coach Palmer has been a passionate advocate for the growth of girls wrestling throughout Idaho. He serves on the IHSAA Girls Wrestling Expansion Committee and has played an important role in expanding opportunities for female wrestlers across the state.

He has also been a strong voice in the two-classification state expansion approved for the 2026–27 season, helping create more opportunities for girls to compete, grow and succeed on the mat.

🐻 MORE THAN WRESTLING

Coach Palmer believes wrestling is for everyone.

It is a sport that demands discipline. Grit. Confidence. Resilience. Accountability.

Those lessons don’t disappear when the whistle blows. They become part of who these athletes are—on the mat, in the classroom, and throughout life.

His goal is to build a culture where every athlete is welcomed, challenged, supported and believed in, regardless of experience or ability.

We aren’t just building a team.

We’re building confidence.
We’re building character.
We’re building leaders.
We’re building the future of Moscow Girls Wrestling.

🔥 THE FUTURE IS NOW.
🐻 THE STANDARD IS RISING.
🤼‍♀️ MOSCOW GIRLS WRESTLING IS JUST GETTING STARTED.

A tremendous THANK YOU to the Moscow School District and Moscow School Board for supporting the growth of girls wrestling and creating the Girls Head Varsity Wrestling Coach position this year.

This is a milestone for Moscow High School athletics—and we’re excited to see where this program goes next.

Welcome home, Coach Palmer.

LET’S GET TO WORK. 💪🐻🤼‍♀️
