One of the biggest predictors of independence as we age isn’t how much weight we can lift...
It’s whether we can confidently get down to the floor and back up again.
That might not sound exciting, but think about playing with your grandkids, gardening, stretching, or recovering from a fall. This is real life strength.
In this video, I show one of my favorite ways to build that skill by using a technique inspired by the Turkish Get-Up. You don’t have to perform the full exercise….the goal is simply to learn how to move into a strong, stable position so getting up becomes safer and easier.
At Beyond Measure Fitness, we believe strength should make everyday life easier, not just improve your numbers in the gym.
Because the goal isn’t just to live longer...
It’s to stay strong enough to enjoy the life you want to live.
👇 Is getting up off the floor easy for you, or is it something you’d like to improve? Tag someone who needs this!

🏋️ Learn Strength Monday
Lesson 1: The Deadlift
If you’re new to strength training, the deadlift is one of the best places to start.
Why?
Because it’s a movement you already do every day.
Picking up groceries.
Lifting your grandkids.
Moving a laundry basket.
Getting something off the floor.
The goal isn’t to lift the heaviest weight possible.
It’s to learn how to move well first.
In this video, I’m coaching Andrew through some of the fundamentals we teach our members every day.
Notice how we’re focused on quality movement, not perfect movement.
One small adjustment at a time.
💪 Next Monday we’ll build on this foundation with Lesson 2.
👇 Have a movement you’d like us to break down? Let us know in the comments!

Shoutout to this week’s milestone members! 💪 Woo hoo!
07/11/2026
Check out all of our recent milestone reachers! 💪
“I’m too old.”
We hear it every week.
Along with…
“I’m afraid I’ll get hurt.”
“I’ve never lifted weights before.”
“I wish I would’ve started years ago.”
The truth?
Strength training isn’t about trying to become the strongest person in the room.
It’s about building the strength you’ll need for the life you want to live.
To carry your grandkids.
To travel.
To get up off the floor with confidence.
To stay independent.
To keep doing the things you love.
You’re not training for today.
You’re training for the next 10, 20, and 30 years.
💛 If you’re over 50 and you’ve been thinking about getting started, let this be your sign.
And if someone you care about has been saying, “I know I should start…” send them this. It might be the encouragement they need.

We asked our members one simple question:
“If you had to describe today’s workout in ONE word… what would it be?”
Safe to say… there were some pretty accurate answers. 😂
Which one would you choose?
👇 Drop your one-word workout description in the comments!
Everyone starts as a white belt. 🥋
One of the things we remind our coaches all the time is that we can’t have black belt expectations for members who are just getting started.
The same is true for all of us.
Strength training is a skill. No one walks into the gym already knowing how to squat, deadlift, or use every piece of equipment with confidence.
If you’re new, you’re supposed to feel like a beginner.
The goal isn’t to be perfect.
The goal is to keep showing up.
And one more thing…
The people you think are judging you are usually the ones cheering you on. Our members know exactly what it feels like to walk through those doors for the first time, and they’re rooting for you every step of the way.
Give yourself permission to be a beginner.
The confidence will come.
💛 Know someone who’s been talking about getting stronger but keeps putting it off because they’re intimidated? Send them this. We’d love to encourage them.
