You will paint your own heirloom-grade wooden canvasback decoy with hands-on instruction, while Broomsedge’s executive chef guides you through a range of wild game dishes, every one taken from the Broomsedge property.

The Jones Hat traces back to St. Joseph, Missouri, 1881: a rounded crown, a short stitched brim, ear flaps that come down when it matters. The Jeep Hat descends from the Army's wool knit cap worn under a steel helmet, a short bill built for close, cold work. There was a time an American sportsman owned one coat, worn walking up birds, to the river bottom, down the truck-rutted road to the back forty. Then hunting split into specialties, and one coat became three.

The Sportsman's Field Coat is that coat again: 10.25 oz sanforized cotton canvas, corduroy at the collar and cuffs, a warmer pocket whose bottom doubles as the hip pocket flap beneath, a game pouch built to carry the day home. The coat every American sportsman used to own, and the coat his grandson wears this fall.

The founder's first hunts ran out of a basement closet in Northwest Indiana that smelled like gun oil and cigar smoke. The vests inside had hung there for 40 years. Old enough to walk out for rabbits, he came back with a khaki one too big for him, every shell loop filled, and walked into the woods feeling like a giant.

The Game Vest is cut from the same 10.25 oz sanforized cotton canvas as the Sportsman's Field Coat, with about 20 closed-bottom cotton webbing shell loops and period-correct dyed cotton in the blaze, not safety poly.
