It's that time of year again – Virginia is for Shovers 2026 is hosted by Charlottesville Roller Derby at the Augusta Expo on Saturday, October 3!

Doors open at 10am with three games back-to-back throughout the day:
🐍 10:30am: Virginia Vipers (VRDN's statewide A-team) vs. Team Maryland Roller Derby
🌟 1:00pm: Charlottesville Junior Roller Derby Level 2 bout
💚 3:30pm: VRDN interleague B/C-level mixer

We took a month off to unwind (or go to our Rookie Clinic or RollerCon 🤪), so we’re sharing our tripleheader recaps from Fredericksburg Roller Derby just in time for our next pair of games on August 8th!

Last month, Dominion Derby Girls edged out a tight victory over Charlottesville Roller Derby — will they be able to do the same vs. Rocktown Rollers at the Capital Clubhouse in Maryland?

We had a great time yesterday at our Rookie Clinic in Richmond! Skaters new to bouting had the opportunity to dive deep on pack formation, whistles, and penalty response. 💚 Thank you to everyone who joined us, especially our member-league track leads and officials who helped make the ending scrimmage possible!

Join us on Sunday, July 12 for a rookie clinic geared toward roller derby players with limited to no scrimmage or bouting experience!

We plan to cover several need-to-know topics at an introductory level, including but not limited to:

🚫 Warnings vs. penalties, and appropriate responses

Highlighting our most recent VRDN game just in time for 3 MORE games hosted by Fredericksburg Roller Derby tomorrow! Ghost Fleet Roller Derby took on DC Roller Derby last month, and we’re super excited to see how the Swamp Monsters fare against Rocktown Rollers’ B-Sides tomorrow at 3pm at the Fredericksburg Field House! 🛼

The River City Roller Derby Reapers continued their undefeated streak in VRDN interleague gameplay late last month against Dominion Derby Girls’ Seven City Sirens! 💚🩵 Who knows what’s in store on Saturday, 6/27 when the Reapers face Fredericksburg Roller Derby and Charlottesville Roller Derby takes on the Sirens on FXBG’s home turf — get tickets at https://charity.pledgeit.org/c/8d77f3lyor

With two more VRDN games coming up tomorrow at vs The World, it’s important we finish showcasing last month’s Oh My Quad! quadrupleheader! ❤️🩵💚🧡 Both and got a well-deserved break from network action in May, but don’t you worry — you’ll see them back on the track in June in FXBG!
