Pam helped her daughter finish this sweet baby quilt, and I love the way the design moves from greens into mountains and then up into shades of blue. It has such a nice sky and mountain feel, with soft prints and colors that make it feel calm and cozy.

We quilted it in Darlene’s Paisley, which adds gentle curves and flowing texture across the whole quilt.

Abigail made this quilt to keep her family cozy during the winter months. I love how every block feels like its own little winter scene; snowmen, reindeer, penguins, snowy landscapes, and Christmas trees all tucked into the same quilt.

We quilted it in Midnight Sparkle, adding swirls and stars that fit right in with the wintry feel of the fabrics.

Elliot pieced this quilt entirely from scraps, and I really couldn’t love that more. There’s something so satisfying about seeing leftover bits and pieces come together into something this colorful and interesting. Nothing is wasted, and every scrap gets another chance to shine.

We quilted it in Good Vibrations, which adds soft, flowing lines across all of those angles and strips without competing with the wonderfully scrappy piecing.

Pat’s two quilts are filled with memories of her grandmother, making the stories behind them just as special as the quilts themselves.

The first is a colorful collection of pieced buttons. Pat remembers playing in her grandmother’s button bin, and this quilt is such a fun nod to those childhood memories. We quilted it in Abacus, a geometric design whose lines almost resemble buttonhole stitching, a neat little connection to the theme.

Her second quilt brings back memories in a different way. Rows of pieced dresses are made from wonderfully retro fabrics that give the quilt a vintage feel and seem right at home with the story behind it. We quilted this one in Beaded Orange Peel, adding a soft repeating design across the background and dresses.

Terri made these two festive wall hangings to display during the holidays. I love all of the little details in the fabrics, from the sweet “I Believe” scenes in the first one to the colorful Christmas bears in the second. They’ll be such fun pieces to bring out each year.

The first is quilted in Holly & Berries, adding soft holiday swirls throughout the design. The second is quilted in Midnight Sparkle, with stars and curls that work especially well with the playful Christmas scenes.

Lori pieced two of these patriotic throws, and I love the combination of traditional star blocks with all of the different red, white, and blue prints. The anchors, stars, and other Americana details give them such a fun summery feel.

We quilted them in Star Swirls, carrying the star theme right into the quilting and adding lots of swirls across the background and borders. ⭐️

Carol made this Square Dance quilt as a housewarming gift for one of her best friends and favorite travel companions. Her friend recently moved into a beautiful modern new home, so Carol wanted to make her a quilt to go with it.

We kept the quilting modern too, using the linear Retro Graphics II pattern. And with that cozy Fireside backing, this one is ready for curling up in the new house! 💜

Julie made this bright and cheerful quilt for her 10-year-old great-niece who lives in Minnesota. I love the mix of florals, butterflies, strawberries, and all those beautiful pinks, blues, and greens.

We quilted it in Butterfly Waltz, which was such a fun choice with all the butterflies already tucked into the fabrics. 🦋

This one is mine!

Graphic Jam by Sassafras Lane Designs caught my eye years ago when a client’s version passed through my frame. I loved it so much that I decided to make one for myself.

What I did not fully appreciate at the time was that it would also be my first attempt at paper piecing. In hindsight, perhaps a slightly smaller project would have been a gentler introduction. This quilt took me a few years to finish; there were definitely times when I needed to put it aside and work on something simpler before coming back to it.

I used the Favorite Things fabric collection by Windham Fabrics. I love all of the little doodle-like designs and the fun surprises tucked into the prints: coffee cups, kayaks, records, plants, flowers, and all sorts of fun, favorite things.

For the quilting, I chose Maze. It has the modern feel of straight-line quilting, but with softer turns that work really nicely with all of those bold geometric shapes.

And after several years of starts, stops, and a much too-ambitious introduction to paper piecing, it’s finally finished. 🙌

Lorene made this lovely pink quilt filled with soft florals, delicate prints, and a sweet rose border. The mix of fabrics gives it such a pretty, feminine feel, and the pink backing ties everything together beautifully. 🌸

It is quilted in Oodles of Doodles, a swirly, elegant pattern that adds lots of flowing texture across the quilt.
