Winter is coming. Preparation now will help you make the most of the good days to come…
Fitness is the foundation. How you move through terrain, both uphill and downhill, has a big impact on your ability to make good decisions and have fun doing it.
Training in the gym will help you build strength, power, and resist injuries. Training on the trail will help you go longer with less effort.
Our friends at Cascade Endurance can help you train effectively for the sports we love. Stay tuned for some special offers and training plans specific to our trips and courses.
Here are some tips from the shop staff at Pro Ski & Mountain Service on preseason gear checks. A little maintenance will go a long way to extending the life of your gear and make sure that it’s all working the way it should:

2) Check the fit and function of your boots. Pull out the liners and inspect. Check all the buckles and levers. Remember last spring when you swore you were going to take that boot in to finally deal with that hot spot?! Feet do change over time and liners pack out.
3) Check all the flippy and rotating parts on your bindings. Make sure all the screws are tight.
4) First aid kit and backcountry repair kits… refill and update
5) The PNW spring can wreak havoc on skins. Do your skins need a refresh or re-glue? Some parchment paper and an iron can give old glue new life, but a full scrape and re-glue will make ‘em stick like new
6) Deploy and refill your airbag
7) New batteries in your transceiver! Every season. Always. Check battery terminals for signs of corrosion or battery acid leaks.
8) Give your ski bases a tune! It’s never too late for a storage wax 😉
Use this time of year to study up and plan out some goals for the season. There are plenty of community events like regional Snow an
