August 7. If your fall league starts Labor Day weekend, this is your gear window closing.

Five things to actually do this weekend, in order of what will save you the most strokes:

August 3. If you play in a fall league, your gear window is now.

Four things worth doing this week before the Wednesday scramble:

1. Look at the palm of your current glove. If the leather patch is glossy and hard, it is done. It is not gripping, it is sliding.
2. Count the balls in your bag. If you are below 6, you are one lost tee shot from playing a range rock on the 14th.
