"I don't have time" sounds like a fact. Is it?

The person training for a marathon at 5 a.m. and the person who can't find 20 minutes to walk have the same 24 hours. So what's really going on?

It's not a time management issue. It's something else disguised as a time problem. I break down what it is, and the one question that makes it hard to hide behind.

I'm too busy. Nicole Hollar explains why “I don’t have time” usually isn’t about time at all, and what it means when you say it.

Think of the last time you noticed a problem forming outside your lane and said nothing.

Every time we trade influence for comfort, it feels small. Multiply it by a few hundred employees over a few years, and you get what we call "corporate culture."
The wall didn't build itself.

Read on to see where you can start taking a piece of it down.

Why won't my team take ownership? Nicole Hollar explains why "that's not my part" is rarely a job description problem — it's a personal agency problem. Here's how to spot it in yourself.

What's your "probably nothing"?

The energy that isn't what it used to be. The number on the bloodwork you never asked about. The thing you'll get checked "after the busy season."

Waiting doesn't cancel the outcome. It just changes who's in charge of it. Here's how to be a partner in your health instead of a passenger, before the other shoe drops.

Nicole Hollar, behavior change keynote speaker and coach, explains why waiting for a health crisis costs more than acting early, and how to research, ask questions, and advocate for yourself now. Take control of your health before a crisis.

You can spend years trying to understand why someone treats you the way they do.

Sometimes that's the wrong perspective. A more useful one is:
Why do I continue participating in something I say I don't want?

That's not blaming yourself for someone else's behavior. It's distinguishing theirs from yours.

You can't control their choice; but you can do something about yours.

People are complicated. That is not a flaw. It's simply true. Someone can be an expert at work and ignorant with money. They may be confident professionally but afraid to speak up in a romantic relationship. Another person can understand their childhood patterns inside and out yet still repeat them every week. We can know exactly what we need to do for our health and simply not do it. Human beings are remarkably capable of being loving, generous and supportive while also having terrible boundaries.

This is one reason broad labels aren't always particularly useful. Calling someone confident, unmotivated, resilient, successful, unhealthy, avoidant or disciplined may describe something about them, but it rarely describes the whole person. It also doesn't tell us why the same person can behave so differently depending on the situation.

The 6-5-10 Model™ gives us a wider lens. Instead of asking only, What's wrong here? we can look at where the issue is occurring, how the person is relating to it, what else may be connected and what resources could help.

Sometimes the presenting problem really is the problem. Sometimes it is simply where a larger pattern became visible.

Don't let your Wearables you! lol

For people who have an ongoing "not good enough" belief about themselves, the is sure to reinforce that some days.

Despite my amazing night of sleep, my readiness score is still only a 58. [Like those kids who got A- regularly but were often told they should do better].
