Honoring Native American Day

Standing at Nankoweap, it’s hard not to feel the weight of time.

High above the Colorado River, ancient granaries sit among the canyon walls—a reminder that people have been living in, traveling through, and caring for this landscape for thousands of years.

As we float the river below, we are visitors in a place with a much deeper story than our own. The Grand Canyon isn’t simply scenery. It is home, history, culture, and a living connection to generations of Indigenous peoples.

This Native American Day, we pause to recognize and honor the Native communities whose ancestral lands include the Grand Canyon and whose connections to this place continue today.

There are views you stop for—and then there are views you never forget.

The Grand Canyon has a way of putting everything into perspective. Towering canyon walls, the Colorado River winding below, and the people you love beside you. It’s a chance to slow down, take it all in, and simply enjoy being there.

There’s something powerful about experiencing a place as vast as the Grand Canyon and realizing just how small you are.

The canyon has a way of quieting everything else. The walls rise around you, the Colorado River keeps moving beside you, and for a little while, there’s nothing to do but look, listen, and take it all in.

Being around moving water can be restorative in its own way—the sound of the river, the rhythm of the current, the time spent outside and away from the constant pull of screens and schedules. It gives your mind space to slow down and be present.

In 2027, come experience the Grand Canyon from the river itself. Our 12-night Grand Canyon rowing trip offers more time to slow down, explore side canyons, hike, watch the stars, and experience the canyon at a different pace.

We get to spend our days on rivers and in canyons that mean the world to us-but what makes this work truly special are the people who choose to experience them with us.
People come from all over the world, step onto our boats as strangers, and somehow become part of our river family. Then, if we’re lucky, they come back years later and we get to pick up right where we left oft.

You leave Moab behind and suddenly you’re floating through Canyonlands National Park. Massive canyon walls.
Nights under a designated dark sky.
Whitewater that can absolutely wake you up. And when it’s all over? A scenic flight back over everything you just traveled through. A river trip, a national park, huge rapids, star-filled skies, and a flight home. What more could you ask for?

Sometimes the best moments are the ones that make you stop, take a breath, and just jump in.

Standing at Elves Chasm in the Grand Canyon, surrounded by red rock, rushing water, and people who are up for a little adventure—you remember how good it feels to simply be outside and enjoy the moment.

Leave the screens behind. Get in the water. Laugh a little louder. Try something new. Make the memories you’ll still be talking about years from now.
