The Ouachita Baptist University family is saddened by the passing of Dr. Bobby Lee Gravett, Sr.

Coach Gravett was a vital part of Ouachita from 1965-1994 and remained a supporter of the university following his retirement as professor emeritus of physical education. Among his many honors, Coach Gravett was inducted into the Ouachita Athletics Hall of Fame, the NAIA Hall of Fame, the Arkansas Track & Field Hall of Fame, and the UCA Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Abby McElhaney, recipient of the 2026 Rachel Freeman Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Rachel Freeman, a talented runner, dedicated student, and encouraging friend who had signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Ouachita before her passing in 2020.

The award is presented annually to a graduating senior who exemplifies Rachel’s dedication, perseverance, character, and love for others. We are proud to recognize Abby as this year’s recipient.
