Some cool history
Then & Now at Mala Compra Trails 🐺🌿
Did you know this peaceful nature trail was once home to a roadside wildlife attraction?
In the early 1960s, Animal Land welcomed visitors to a 105-acre park where they rode a motorized safari to see timber wolves, jungle cats, bears, and other animals.
Admission was just $2 for adults, $1 for children, and free for kids under six.
Today, as you bike the Mala Compra Trails, you can still spot remnants of the park's past.
What was once a wildlife attraction has become a protected natural area where visitors can experience Florida's coastal hammock ecosystem; Enjoying the outdoors by foot or bike.
History and nature come together at Mala Compra Trails. What’s your favorite thing about Mala Compra’s Past, Present, or Future?
