🏆🖤 MVP MONSTER MASH CHAMPIONS! 🏆💛
After nearly a month away from tournament play due to hurricane Isaias canceling our previous tournament, and limited practice for reasons beyond their control, our Ruff Ryders finally took the field again. And we're not going to sugarcoat it... THEY STRUGGLED.
We dropped both pool play games which knocked us down into the silver bracket. The rust was showing, mistakes were being made, and you could see the defeat written all over their faces.
But defeated doesn't mean DONE! When bracket play started, something changed. Nobody had to tell us they wanted it. Nobody had to convince us they still had fight left in them. THEY SHOWED US.
Were they perfect? Absolutely not! They were still making errors, still working through the rust, and still trying to find their rhythm. But the difference was that they weren't letting those mistakes define them anymore.
That first bracket game? TWO international tiebreakers! 😮💨 Both teams battling, neither willing to back down. Every pitch, every out, every play mattered. And when it was all said and done, our girls found a way to pull off the win!
Then came the championship. By this point, you could see our girls were GASSED. But you could also see that the team that started the day was NOT the same team standing on that field.
They fought their way through the game, holding off their opponents until the final inning. And even when exhaustion was written all over them, THEY KEPT FIGHTING. Right down to that beautiful final play, tagging out the runner attempting to steal home! 🥎🔥
Sometimes our biggest opponent isn't the team in the other dugout. Sometimes it's ourselves. Our own frustrations, our mistakes, our doubts, and that little voice telling us we can't.
Yesterday, these girls had every opportunity to hang their heads and call it a day. Instead, they dug deep, trusted each other, and found a way to overcome what was standing in front of them.
They reminded themselves of something we as coaches have always believed... They are capable of so much more than they sometimes give themselves credit for.
We're proud of the wins, absolutely. But we're even prouder of the fight, the heart, and the determination it took to get there.
Congratulations, Ruff Ryders 12U! 🏆🖤💛
NO FEAR. ALL FIGHT. 🥎🔥
