Former Derby Champ Honeycutt Takes PLM No. 3; Robinson, Loper Have Titles in Crosshairs

Kaden Honeycutt has experienced a slew of highs this season.
He has won nearly 20 times across the multiple racing series he competes in, including the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Honeycutt notched his first two career Trucks wins and currently sits second in points with the playoff chase set to get underway next month at Bristol.
But nothing has felt as emotional and exuberant as returning to the site of a career milestone Friday night at Five Flags Speedway. Honeycutt’s historic win at the 57th annual Snowball Derby springboarded him to stardom.
He was once again triumphant at Pensacola’s high banks. Honeycutt captured the 100-lap Allen Turner Hyundai Pro Late Model No. 3 against a stout field.
“This was a great car, and we’ve got something good to work with for the Snowflake,” he said. “We were close to the ’Flake last year, and we’re trying to improve on a couple spots this December.”
Defending PLM track champion Jake Finch took home runner-up honors and took hold of the standings when previous points leader Zack Dixon experienced a nightmare finish Friday after leading at one point.
Jim Wall, who led Friday, notched the final podium spot for his best career finish at Five Flags.
“This is our first time on the front stretch down here,” Wall said. “I would’ve loved to keep the lead with those guys, but they’re tough. This is a huge finish for our whole team. We’ll keep going and hopefully get up there to first.”
The first half of the race was free of drama. Honeycutt started on the pole—following the invert after qualifying—and controlled the tempo with little jockeying for position behind him.
There was a competition caution following the 50 green-flag laps that opened the race.
Things heated up quickly on the restart, as the leaders went three-wide and Honeycutt yielded the lead to Dixon. A lap later, Wall had the lead. But his brief time out front ended when Honeycutt reclaimed clean air and control of the race.
“I don’t know happened on the restart. We got tight at the exit of (Turn No.) 2,” said Honeycutt, who has nearly 20 wins across all the series he competes in. “I can’t do it without the amazing owners I get to race for. This race team is so stout. Our chemistry is so good. Every time we show up, we’re always in the ballpark.”

The Dock on Pensacola Beach Street Stocks
Chad Robinson refuses to lose at Five Flags Speedway.
It has been exactly a year since Robinson last tasted defeat in a Dock on Pensacola Beach Street Stocks feature race. Since that Aug. 29, 2025 night, all Robinson has done is reel off six consecutive victories at the famed half-mile asphalt oval. The biggest came last December when he captured the Street Stocks Snowball Derby 50-lapper.
The defending Street Stocks track champion will assuredly repeat during Harvesters Credit Union Night of Champions on Sept. 12.
Robinson got all he could handle from the McDonald Brothers on Friday. Both Parker and Daryl McDonald III applied pressure to Robinson and made the 40-year-old lock in.
“I got a little free at the end and started to ease up,” Robinson said. “They caught up to me. I was like, ‘Oh, boy, we gotta go.’ ”
Parker claimed runner-up honors while “D3” rounded out the podium.
“We had a good hotrod,” Parker McDonald said. “I wish we could’ve hung a little bit closer. We gotta hit on something. We’re close now.”

Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks
It’s all over, but the shouting.
There will be no mystery in crowning this year’s Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks track champion at next month’s Harvesters Credit Union’s Night of Champions. Ely Loper made sure of it.
The teenage driver from Grand Bay, Ala., will cruise to the title after scoring his sixth 25-lap feature win Friday night at Five Flags Speedway in seven races this season.
Loper started sixth, but was quickly up to second on Lap 1. After chasing early leader Connor Odom around for a few laps, Loper accelerated under him on Lap 5 to take a lead he did not relinquish.
“This is a full-time job keeping the car in great shape,” Loper said. “At least 40 hours goes into the car each week. To me, it shows.”
Odom finished runner-up and Caleb Burkett earned a hard-fought third.

BuggyWorx Crown Stocks
Tyler Landis is going to have to make room in the trophy case back home in Plant City.
For several years, the 20-year-old Tampa hotshoe has wanted to add Five Flags Speedway to the list of tracks he has won at.
Landis’ fantasies got an extra dose of reality Friday night at Five Flags with the BuggyWorx Crown Stocks. Not only did he capture the 10-lap non-winner’s race, but he won a wild 25-lap feature for two checkered flags in one night.
“That was a blessing,” Landis said in Victory Lane. “I’m grateful to get a win here. I can’t thank (car owner) Spencer Bragg enough for trusting me in this hotrod.”
Adam Salter finished second and Austin Reeves came home third.
Salter led for most of the night until lapped traffic in the closing laps cost the defending Crown Stocks track champion a potential win.
Landis was stalking Salter for the lead on Lap 21 when they encountered Steve Sidner, who was running near the back of the 22-car field.
Salter decided to go to the high side while Landis went low. Unfortunately for Salter, Sidner drove up the track and blocked him while Landis took the lead and disappeared into the night.
“I hated for that Adam with the lapped car,” Landis said. “It was gonna be a good race between me and him.”
Landis celebrated his victorious night with a series of burnouts down the front straightaway.
