Slow and steady wins the race! 🐢
Want a smoother, more consistent putting stroke? Try this simple tempo drill!
Place a coin or ball marker on the back of your putter and try to keep it balanced throughout your stroke.
Why does it work?
The coin provides immediate feedback on your putting tempo, particularly during the transition from your backstroke to your forward stroke.
If you rush the transition or accelerate too abruptly, the coin may fall off.
The goal is to develop:
• A smoother transition
• Gradual acceleration through the stroke
• Consistent tempo and rhythm
• Better control of your putting speed
How to practice:
Start with putts around 5 feet or less. Make a few practice strokes without a ball, keeping the coin balanced. Then add a ball and maintain that same smooth motion.
Once you’ve developed a consistent rhythm, gradually increase your putting distance.
Remember, the goal isn’t necessarily a slower stroke. It’s a smoother, more repeatable one!
Save this drill for your next putting session!
