This full-time position offers the opportunity to:
✅ Coach and instruct players on the ice and inline rink
✅ Develop and manage hockey programs, leagues, tournaments, and events
✅ Work alongside a dedicated team of hockey professionals

The Chill League features one period of 4v4 hockey and one period of 3v3 hockey, both periods use a modified offside rule.

RMU Island Sports Center Announces Tim Nguyen-Trang as New Assistant Hockey Director

PITTSBURGH, PA – May 20, 2026 – RMU Island Sports Center (RMU ISC) is proud to announce the appointment of Tim Nguyen-Trang as the new Assistant Hockey Director, effective June 1, 2026.

Nguyen-Trang joins RMU ISC with an impressive combination of high-level playing experience, advanced sport science education, coaching certifications, and a passion for player development, making him a dynamic addition to the ISC Hockey Department.

A graduate with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Nguyen-Trang has further specialized his expertise through certificates in Clinical Movement Sciences, Physical Activity Instruction, and Sport Sciences from the University of Toronto. His academic background provides a unique understanding of athletic performance, movement efficiency, injury prevention, and player development—skills that align directly with RMU ISC’s commitment to developing athletes on and off the ice.

Nguyen-Trang also brings a growing coaching resume backed by Hockey Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and The National Training Centres, in Toronto Ontario, where he trains athletes of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. His additional training in sport nutrition, ethical coaching, safe sport, emergency action planning, and first aid further reflects his comprehensive and modern approach to coaching.

On the ice, Nguyen-Trang competed at the Tier 2 Junior A level with the GMHL’s North York Renegades from 2022–2026, where he built a decorated playing career that included being named a 2024-2025 U21 All-Star, serving as Alternate Captain, and earning recognition as a 2022-2023 U18 All-Star Top Prospect. During his tenure, the Renegades captured three consecutive GMHL Division Championships, underscoring his experience in competitive, winning environments.

“Tim brings a tremendous blend of hockey knowledge, leadership, and player development expertise to our program,” said Blaine Buterbaugh, Hockey Director at The RMU Island Sports Center. “His experience as a former junior player and his infectious passion for teaching the game, combined with his academic background in kinesiology and sport science, make him an exciting addition to our program. We are thrilled to welcome him to our hockey leadership team.”

In his new role as Assistant Hockey Director, Nguyen-Trang will support RMU ISC’s hockey operations across youth development programming, camps, clinics, coaching initiatives, and player pathway development. He will work closely with athletes, families, and staff to continue enhancing the premier hockey experience RMU ISC provides to its community.

“I’m very excited to join the RMU team at the Island Sports Center,” said Nguyen-Trang. “I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity that will allow me to work with players of all ages and skill levels”.
