American Trails sponsors the annual contest for photographs of designated National Recreation Trails (NRT) across the country. Our annual contest provides awards in several categories and shows off entries (and previous winners) on the NRT website.

The deadline is December 15 of each year. Be sure to search the NRT Database to confirm your photo is on a designated National Recreation Trail

Please be advised that the El Dorado Trail will be CLOSED from October 12 through October 23, 2026, between Ray Lawyer Drive and Main Street due to construction related to the City’s broadband project.

Construction crews will be installing the main fiber line along this section of the trail. For everyone’s safety, pedestrians and bicyclists will NOT be permitted to access the closed area during this time. Please respect all posted signs and follow construction-related instructions. Entering the closed area may result in liability. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project moves forward! Questions? Contact (530) 642-5232.
