Today, Austin and I went shad fishing at Bonneville Dam, and I wasn't prepared for the flood of memories that came rushing back.

From the mid-1980s through the early 2000s, this place was a huge part of my life. It's where I grew up sturgeon fishing, where I fell in love with the sport, and where I made some of the best memories I'll ever have.

As we stood there today, I found myself wanting to do less fishing and more storytelling. Story after story came flooding back—days on the water, endless laughs, adventures, and the friendships that were built along the way. Some of those people are still in my life today and may even be reading this post. Some have sadly passed on, and others I simply lost touch with over the years.

But standing there today, all those memories felt as real as ever.

It's funny how a place can instantly take you back to another time in your life. Bonneville Dam did that for me today. It reminded me of the friends who felt more like family, the good times we shared, and just how lucky I was to have lived those moments.

I miss those days. I could sit for hours and tell stories about sturgeon fishing at Bonneville, the people I met there, and the memories we made together.

Today wasn't just a fishing trip with my son—it was a trip back in time.
