On September 11, 2001, twenty five years ago, our country suffered an unimaginable tragedy. Among the thousands of lives lost that day were 18 brothers from the New York City carpenters.
These men went to work that morning like they had done countless times before. They were fathers, husbands, sons, brothers, friends, and proud members of our union. They never got the chance to come home.
As union carpenters, we understand what it means to stand together, look out for one another, and never leave a brother or sister behind. We will always remember the 18 members we lost on 9/11 and the sacrifice they made.
Today, we honor their memory, their families, their brothers and sisters in the New York City carpenters, and everyone who lost someone on that terrible day.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget

Happy Labor Day
Thank you for all you do

Tomorrow, we celebrate Labor Day and the legacy of Peter J. McGuire, our union’s founder.

Peter J. McGuire, was an organizer. He spoke one-on-one to carpenters about their work and their working conditions. He instilled in them a belief that by working together, they could all do better. And they did.

What McGuire taught those carpenters is still true for every member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, from new apprentices to retired journey level carpenters. When we work together, we not only put up the tallest and the strongest structures, we build up each other.
