💦 May is National Water Safety Month 💦 Water Safety Tip #6: Reach. Throw. Don’t Go.
Helping kids stay water smart means teaching them how to safely help someone in trouble. If a friend is struggling in deep water, children should never jump in to try to rescue them. Instead, teach the “reach, throw, don’t go” method by reaching with a long object, throwing something that floats, and getting help right away. 💙
As America’s Swim Instructor, the South Shore YMCA is proud to help children build confidence and learn lifesaving water safety skills. Learn more about swim lessons and water safety at ssymca.org/swimlessons

💦 May is National Water Safety Month 💦 Water Safety Tip #5: Wear a life jacket.
Helping kids stay water smart means using the right safety equipment around water. Young children, inexperienced swimmers, and non-swimmers should always wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket while boating or spending time in and around open water. 💙
