Enjoy my helmet Commentary 😂
Multiple incidents with different views from each one!
My first trip to Caraway was quite the experience! 🏁
First, thank you to Alex Fleming Motorsports for convincing me to try something different and to Michael from MKM Racing Development for encouraging me to show up. I’m glad I took the opportunity!
Friday’s practice went great. I got faster each time out, and Alex and the team had the car dialed in. Every session built a little more confidence.
Saturday brought rain delays, a packed championship night schedule, and $10,000 on the line for our class.
I didn’t get enough heat in the tires for qualifying, which put us toward the back. That part was on me, but I was ready to work forward. With most of my experience at Wake County, I still had plenty to learn about this bigger track, especially passing.
Honestly, though, it didn’t seem to matter where you started. There was chaos everywhere.
I got hit under caution, driven through, and used as someone else’s stabilizer and sometimes their wall, while working my way forward. Through it all, I found my rhythm, gained confidence, and felt like we were becoming a top five contender.
Then chaos broke out directly in front of me, and I had nowhere to go. The damage ended our night about 50 laps into a 125 lap race.
I wasn’t mad, just disappointed. Wondering why we were racing like it was lap 120. We had a great car, and I would have loved to see what we could do over the full distance.
Still, I left Caraway having learned a ton: a different track, a bigger field, more experience passing, and more confidence behind the wheel. I’ll carry all of that into the next race.
Thank you to everyone who helped get me there and supported us throughout the weekend. The car took a beating, but I’m taking the lessons with me.
Never Give Up. 🏁
