Friday flashback! Our KOMA team competed last weekend at the CA Open last weekend. They return with 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
It was a challenging day with several students challenging themselves. We had 3 color belts compete as Black belts. One black belt moved up to a new weight class and a couple of first timers. Proud of everyone’s effort! There were many lessons to be learned and gained for our athletes.
Here’s some highlights. Hunter moved up in rank and brought home Gold and Amaya earned her first Gold! Our one and only true black belt for this event, Paul, moved up in weight to prepare for a new division, for next season. He won his first match and made it to quarterfinals against a strong and heavier opponent where he had a good battle. Rahne moved up & challenged herself by competing in the black belt world class division and battled for bronze. Brother and sister team of Nova and Wilder also took the challenge of moving up in belt to compete in the black belt division. Nova in the cadet world class and Wilder in the Tiger division. They also fought tough with Wilder in a close fight for Gold, but just missed it in his first black belt competition!
Also, welcome Zain & Jad to their first competition!
We can’t wait until all our color belts start competing officially, as true black belts. They will be ready and a force to come. We thank our Lord for keeping everyone healthy and giving us these opportunities.
