On behalf of the entire Detroit Region SCCA, I would like to extend their deepest condolences to Carol Probst and her family on the recent loss of her father, Daryl Foster.

Mr. Foster was a long time region member and a lifelong motorsports enthusiast and road racing competitor.

Carol wrote us informing the region of his passing earlier today.

May he rest in eternal peace.

I wanted to share the attached obituary for my father, Daryl Foster, who recently passed away.

My dad was a longtime member of the Detroit Region SCCA, and road racing was one of the great passions of his life. He always spoke fondly of the people, friendships, and memories he made through the club. It meant a great deal to him over the years.

I thought those who knew him through the SCCA might like to know of his passing and have the opportunity to remember him.

Thank you for being such an important part of his life.

Sincerely,

Carol Probst

SVR/LSR/DR Yooper Cup Autocross 06/16/2026

Only a few more days to register for the 2026 Yooper Cup Autocross.

We're teaming up with our friends from the Lake Superior SCCA and Saginaw Valley Region - SCCA for a fun filled weekend of cone dodging in the name of charity.

Friday is a Test & Tune day so you can dial in your set up on some of the best concrete in the Midwest. Saturday and Sunday are the real competition days.

All of the regions have chosen certain charities to compete for. LSR is racing for the Chippewa/Luce/Mackinaw Community Action Agency, SVR is trying to bring it home for the Wurtsmith Air Museum and DR is competing to support the United Spinal Association of Michigan.

From Bill Armitage…

Thank you to all the marshals that came out and supported the Detroit Grand Prix.

What a weekend!!!!! Everyone stayed very busy all weekend. The flagging was spot on and the communications were very good. The net was definitely busy. The teamwork shown between stations and even inner station showed very well. Everyone made much easier than it could have been.

We worked through some technical issues and showed why this event is one of my favorite events to come to because of the high quality of marshal Detroit Region SCCA attracts.

IMSA and IndyCar both appreciate the time and the dedication given to this past weekend. Everyone in both Race Controls were very happy at the end of the weekend.

Thank you to Cindy Wisner for her outstanding leadership over the weekend. She does a great job in helping put this event together and to make sure you are well taken care of.

Look forward to seeing you next on the Streets of Detroit....hopefully will see you later this season at either an IMSA or IndyCar race.....hopefully both

Empire Hill Climb is one of the great historic events that the Detroit Region has the honor of supporting.

Thanks Epicenter Graphics for replacing the missing banner.

Unfortunately, last year, one of the banners for empirehillclimb turned up missing.

Epicenter was able to donate a replacement banner this year for the event.

If you’ve never checked out the hill climb, you should. It is a lot of fun to see all the different vehicles and the different classes compete.. many other small businesses are involved with the event and it’s just all around a good time. (They’re always looking for volunteers too!)

On behalf of the entire Detroit Region SCCA BOD...Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all.

Can't wait to see everyone out at our 2026 events.
