Coastal Muay Thai

We had a visitor from Connecticut, Alan, in this week as he prepares for his fight in early August.

For me personally, it was a great week too.

As a coach, I usually take a step back and view training from a bird's-eye perspective. This week was different. I got to run with the team, spar with them, and spend more time in the work with them. I do this so I get a real feel for what they need.

We do our best to focus on consistency over results. Results aren't always in our control, but consistency is.

I remind my team all the time that I'm human too. I make mistakes, get frustrated, and have my own highs and lows. None of us are perfect.
One of the best compliments a gym can receive came from Alan:

"I got good work, but I never felt scared."
Oh, and Garret learned not to say he bets I can't do something. The rest is between us, FB 😂

Hey Roanoke, This Coastal Muay Thai team went 7-1 over the weekend in Lynchburg bringing back the tournaments Champion, Dante. Throughout the day we experienced different fighting styles from our opponents and the thing that made me most proud was watching how they stuck to the game plan. This brings our 2026 team record to 23-6, sounding like a dominant football score 😎

Over the weekend the Coastal Muay Thai team brought back a Tournament Champion and went 6-2 in North Carolina! Max ( )stole the show, yet our new comers showed out too 👊

Tonight at the Coastal Muay Thai gym we all learned some cool stuff, like knee picks from under/over position, knee counters, and well ~ I'm the only adult on the team who doesn't still drink cups of milk, plain 😂
