Halau Na Maka Olali

Halau Na Maka Olali Classes for all ages are available. All levels of dance experience are welcome. Tanisha still performs for Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu to this day.

Hālau Nā Maka ‘Ōlali is a dance school based in Roseville, CA dedicated to perpetuating and preserving the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture through Hula and Tahitian dance. Tanisha Reshke, President & Executive Director

Tanisha is a seasoned hula dancer with over 30 years of experience as a performer. Her passion for perpetuating the Hawaiian culture has been the driving force for earning her accreditation as Kumu Hula. In 2006 Tanisha graduated as ‘ōlapa (dancer) under the direction of Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne, Director and founder of Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu. In 2019, Tanisha graduated as ho’opa’a (chanter) and Kumu (teacher) again under the direction of Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakane. Tanisha has performed and competed in both Hula and ‘Ori Tahiti competitions throughout the United States, Tahiti and Japan. Tanisha founded Hālau Nā Maka ‘Ōlali to educate all who have a genuine interest in the Hawaiian culture and because she believes in the transformative experience of Hula.

🌺 September Birthday Shoutouts 🌺

And just like that, we’re wrapping up September! 🍂✨ Before we close out the month, we wanted to give one more big birthday shoutout to our September birthday hula sisters! 🥳🎂

We celebrated Kumu Tanisha, Moani, Zoey, Susana, Noelani, and Sedona throughout the month, and we’re sending a little extra birthday aloha to Lisi and Isla, who weren’t pictured in the reel. 💕

We hope each of you had a beautiful birthday filled with love, laughter, happiness, and of course, lots of aloha! 🥰

We’re so grateful to have each of you as part of our Na Maka ʻohana. May this next year bring you many beautiful memories, new adventures, and plenty of reasons to dance! 💃🏽✨

One more time…HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of our September birthday girls! 🎉🎂🌺

🌺✨ Keiki Hula Spotlight✨🌺

This month we’re shining the spotlight on our beautiful keiki dancer, Ari! 💙

Ari has been dancing with Na Maka for 5 YEARS — since she was just 4 years old! 🥹 It has been so special watching her grow, learn, and share her aloha with us over the years. 🌺

Let’s get to know Ari a little better! 👇🏽

🌺 Favorite Na Maka dance: “Ua Vaho” — one of our Tahitian routines!
💙 Favorite costume: Her Tahitian costume with the blue skirt & paddle
🎨 Fun fact: Ari loves arts & crafts and helping others! 🥰

We are so proud of the young dancer Ari is becoming and are grateful to have watched her grow through hula and Tahitian dance. Keep shining, Ari! ✨💙

We love you, Ari! 🌺
