NEW for 2027! The Bottomless Triathlon will be returning to an off-road run. See the previous post describing the early Bottomless days. Same 4K distance, same start out of T2, but a new surprise finish. The run will be an out and back on the Bluff Nature Trail with a small loop turn around at Pasture Lake Campground. Guranteed to provide a much more pleasant and exciting finish to the triathlon.

The NMSU Sprint Triathlon is on Saturday October 17, 2026. It includes the following events: Sprint Distance Triathlon and Relay Sprint Triathlon.

Very close to announcing a new off-road 4k trail run course for the 2027 Bottomless Triathlon.

First 10+ events did have a trail run twisting and turning among the salt cedars until the Lea Lake underground springs increased their inflow and flooded the course. The Corps of Engineers revamped the drainage ditch to the West and flooding no longer is a problem. It is easy to run an out and back on the road. But most will tell you it is preferred to run off road, and that is what we will do if we can check off all the boxes.

If you want to bypass the massive logistical footprints of Big-branded village festivals with massive entry fees . . .
. . events like the MILKMAN & BOTTOMLESS Triathlons feature fields of only a few hundred athletes. Parking is directly adjacent to the single transition zone, allowing you to walk straight from your car trunk to your bike rack. These two "Clean-and-Go" races allow you to lay your gear directly under your bike tires rather than using hanging transition bags. Very few triathlons can boast of being 40+ years old. Keeping it simple, inexpensive, local and fun are just a few reasons why these events are so successful.

HOLD ON TO YOUR PANTS & MARK YOUR 2027 CALENDARS! We are keeping the Last Saturday in June date for the 44th Bottomless Triathlon. Registration opens in April. And best wishes to those competing in Ruidoso this weekend.

The BOTTOMLESS TRIATHLON is on Saturday June 26, 2027. It includes the following events: Individual Triathlon, 2 or 3 person Coed Relay, and Under 18 Individual Triathlon.

Shout out to Robert Browning! Reality is what it is. What happens when you finish overall Runner-up 3 years in a row (to Gage Bonestoo in 2023, to Brent Aucutt in 2024, and to Greg Bobo in 2025)? The 2026 Bottomless Triathlon was a championship of champions. ALSO, Shout out to Liz Cheli for claiming her hat-trick 3 Bottomless wins back to back to back
