Alumni Spotlight: Kevin Frandsen ‘00
Three-sport Bell. All-State honoree. Nine seasons in the big leagues.
Kevin graduated from Bellarmine in 2000 after earning First Team All-WCAL and All-State honors as a senior. He went on to San Jose State, where he left as the program’s all-time leader in hits. In 2004, his hometown San Francisco Giants drafted him in the 12th round.
He was named the Giants’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2005 and made his Major League debut on April 28, 2006, going 3 for 4 with three runs scored. In 2007 he put up a five-hit game and drove in a career-high 31 runs. Over his career he played for the Giants, Angels, Phillies and Nationals, with 514 games, 322 hits, 15 home runs and 110 RBI. In 2012, he hit .338 in 55 games for Philadelphia.
Kevin has stayed in the game since. He has hosted sports radio in the Bay Area, called Phillies games on the radio, hosted on MLB Network Radio, and now works as an analyst on Washington Nationals broadcasts.
