Fitness doesn’t have to be complicated.

Build your training around the basic movement patterns and get really good at them:

Squat → Squat
Hinge → Deadlift
Horizontal Push → Bench Press
Vertical Push → Overhead Press
Pull → Rows / Pull-ups
Carry → Farmer Carries

Bonus: Unilateral work → Lunges / Bulgarian Split Squats

Then progressively add weight, reps, or improve ex*****on over time.

You don’t need 50 different exercises or a completely new workout every week.

Master the basics. Progress them. Stay consistent.

Leg day built around the basics. 🦵

Back squats + front squats for strength and quad development.
Deadlifts + hip thrusts to load the posterior chain and build the glutes/hamstrings.
Finished with Bulgarian split squats + walking lunges for unilateral strength, stability, and control.

Build strength. Build muscle. Move better.

Save this one for your next leg day. đź’Ş

Shoulder mobility isn’t just about stretching—it’s about building strength and control throughout your available range of motion.

These four exercises target the rotator cuff, serratus anterior, and surrounding scapular stabilizers to improve shoulder stability and movement quality.

Add them to your warm-up or upper-body training to help build stronger, more resilient shoulders. đź’Ş

Most people start training because they want to look better.

But eventually, you realize the physical changes are only part of it.

You become more disciplined.
More confident.
More resilient.
A better example for your kids.
A stronger version of yourself—inside and outside the gym.

The body may be what gets you started… but who you become is what keeps you going.

3 movements. 3 different ways to challenge your core.

Cable Crunch
Trains the re**us abdominis through loaded spinal flexion. Think ribs toward hips and actually flex through your trunk instead of just pulling the rope down with your arms.

Hanging Leg Raise
Challenges the abs while also involving the hip flexors. The key is controlling the movement and finishing with posterior pelvic tilt, curling your pelvis toward your ribs instead of just swinging your legs up.

Cable Chop
Trains your core through rotation while also requiring you to control and resist unwanted movement. Stay braced and rotate with control instead of using momentum to throw the cable across your body.

Your core does more than just “crunch.” Train it through different movement patterns, add resistance when appropriate, and progress it just like any other muscle.

Save this one for your next core workout. đź’Ş

There’s a big difference between giving someone a workout and actually coaching them.

A workout is sets, reps, exercises, and intensity.

Coaching is asking the questions that actually matter.

How are you sleeping?
How’s your nutrition?
How are you recovering?
What’s your stress like?
Why have you struggled with consistency before?
What’s going on outside the gym?

And most importantly… WHY does your goal matter to you?

Because sometimes you need to be pushed. Sometimes you need to pull back. Sometimes the workout isn’t the problem at all.

A good coach learns the person in front of them. Their lifestyle, habits, struggles, goals, and what keeps getting in their way.

Because the goal isn’t just to get you through today’s workout.

It’s to help you become the strongest, healthiest, most confident version of yourself—and build something you can actually sustain.

That’s the difference between training someone and truly coaching them.

What a summer. 🙏🏼💪🏼

Today was our final Beach, Bros & Bibles workout of the summer. I’m grateful for every early morning, every workout, every conversation, and the fellowship we’ve shared out on the beach.

One message that really stuck with me throughout this summer was the importance of filling your cup so you can pour into others. Taking care of your body, strengthening your mind, and most importantly, growing in your faith. The stronger that foundation becomes, the more you have to give to your family, your friends, and the people God puts in your life.

Big thank you to my friend and pastor Andrew Matrone for doing this alongside me, and to everyone who showed up this summer. This turned into something pretty special.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

Until next time. 🙏🏼
