A Lovely couple from Chicago making the best of Sand Dab fishing in April.

Out fishing Sand Dabs with folks from Salt Lake, we have our Seaqualizer tool handy to recompress these Rockfish and release them safely back into their habitat in 110 feet of water as they get the bends from coming up too fast, then we immediately move the boat to get back on top of the sand dabs (Flounder) Rockfish have been closed for retention in Puget Sound since 2010. They have actually recovered quite nicely, but it’s difficult for WDFW to craft a meaningful season without concerns of relapse.

We caught these late winter Chinook today, April 3. We gave a couple of spots open tomorrow. I’ll pin the calendar in the comments you can book online until 7:00 pm today. After that area 10 may not open again for Salmon until June.

Sticking with Plugs today for winter Chinook. A couple spots still open for Saturday Salmon. Likely the last open day until June 1 in area 10. It could open again Wednesday for another day or two of quota allows.

The bite was strong this morning! After three days of working hard for bites and being patient, that wasn’t necessary today! We had two triple hook ups which we only landed one fish each time. Done by 8:00 am. We only needed six keepers.
Water was flat calm today, no traffic on Monday morning for boaters.

Another busy day in the fog. Landed 10 Coho and kept our 8 and 3 Pinks incidentally caught that we retained.

Just three anglers today. Easy fishing. Targeted Coho and caught six. Switched to targeting pinks and caught six of those. Done by 8 o’clock. 

Landing triples and lining the deck with fish. These are Pinks, last week. This week we are getting more Coho Salmon (Silvers) in the mix.
