# Greenwood Lady Jays Make History with State Runner-Up Finish! ๐๐โณ
What an incredible finish to an outstanding season for the Greenwood Lady Jays Golf Team! The Lady Jays brought home SECOND PLACE at the Missouri Class 1 State Golf Championship, marking the highest finish in Greenwood golf program history!
Making their third state championship appearance in the last five years, the Lady Jays traveled to Paradise Pointe's Posse Golf Course in Smithville, Missouri, ready to compete against the best teams in the state.
Day one brought chilly conditions, with early morning tee times and temperatures in the upper 40s. The cold weather may have put a slight chill on the girls' scores, but the Lady Jays battled through the conditions and finished the opening round in 2nd place.
The second day brought warmer temperatures and improved scores for the Lady Jays! While defending champions, Highland, had established a commanding lead, the battle for second place was far from over. Throughout the final round, Greenwood and Tarkio went back and forth in a tight race for runner-up honors.
With every stroke counting, the Lady Jays stayed focused, battled to the very end, and came out on top in the race for the runner up spot by 8 stokes.
And just like that, the Greenwood Lady Jays made school history โ STATE RUNNERS-UP! ๐ฅ
